Hi everyone! I found this forum last night and figured I would create this for anyone who wants to discuss the pacesetter program for Spring 2021. The application deadline will be here before we know it! I will be taking courses at San Jac this Summer to finish my pre-reqs ( a lot of the unfortunately ). Hope everyone is staying safe and taking this time to prepare as much as possible. I had been volunteering at Methodist but unfortunately that has ceased for now. Post anything you’d like here!

I actually really liked TWU when I visited, everyone I met and who worked with me was really friendly and helpful. I liked the school environment a lot. I also liked that you could go on a trip in the Summer to nurse somewhere else (I'm sure with covid that isn't a reality at the moment). Early on I had a not so great interaction with the registrars office at UTH which was quickly resolved. As a result it was a hard choice.
To be honest a big factor was financial, a 15 month course vs a 2 year course. For TWU you can do patho the semester before to trim out a class and in the Summer if I remember you have to volunteer or work and get a credit or two doing that. For me though an extra 9 months of not having a solid income was going to end up with a much higher student debt and even then I felt it would be a struggle. Also that's also an extra 9 months I could have been earning.
I am glad I made the decision I did, not just financially but because I have really like the course and the university. I think both places have a very supportive, positive culture or at least TWU appeared to in my limited experience. I was torn in my decision but it was for the best. I love Uthealth, it's a lot of work as is any nursing program but has been great (plus the patho course alone is amazing in J1).

Thank you so much for sharing this ! You just justified one ☝? of my reasons for choosing UT Health over Midwestern State university .
For those in the future.
Acceptances went out Tuesday - Thursday (throughout the day), October 20 - 22; by UTportal
starting with alphabetical order applicants with all prerequisites completed, then alphabetical order for applicants with some incomplete prerequisites.
(given 7-10 days to deny or accept their offers)
Waitlist went out Friday, October 30 (midday) ; by email
in no particular order
most acceptances went to : GPA >3.5 and HESI >89
(with a FEW exceptions)
no preference to: time of application submission, if you had a prior degree, if you had prior experience
probable presence: completion of prerequisites, higher than average GPA and HESI,
many applicants (as myself) did not get in or waitlisted even though we had the same stats as some applicants that got in.
UT health is a nice school, but do not hold your breath. there are many many other great nursing programs
? good luck, future nurse!

Hi where did you receive this information? Did they email you
Hey y’all!
So since all of those who got accepted and waitlisted have been notified of it already, it is safe to assume that I got denied again. This was my second time applying, so I just wanted to share my stats for future applicants to compare.
Overall GPA: 3.74
Science GPA: 3.75
HESI: 95.2
