UTA Spring 2012

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

I am taking Pharm too in September!

SHAZAAAM!!! Pre-nursing students unite...power stethscopes activate...haha...(I know I am a dork)!!!

Geessshhhh I cannot wait to be done! I look forward to us all being in the course together...we can all connect online there....

I'm taking Pharm AND Patho AND Stats AND Dev. Psych from UTA this semester :) I'm also taking Nutrition from my local CC. I might have to add an additional computer class for another college if required :( boo!

Good luck everyone in Pharm and Patho. I was in it but dropped it with hopes of getting into TWU's weekend program. I am going to take Nutrition at tccd. I will be taking Government and US History at UTA, so after that all that will be left is Pharm and Patho. I didn't want to take too many courses with work and family included into all this!

I'll be taking Pharm with you guys in September! :lol2: I am taking Patho, Micro, and Med Term as well. Pulled an A in A & P II. Still job hunting :uhoh3:.

Hello,

I'm new here, but I won't be applying for some time because I have a lot of core classes to do. I'm taking BIOL 1441 and Art at the 8/22 start date and then will take Fed. Government and Intro to Psych when those are done. I work FT right now plus have kids so we shall see how this goes. My plan is to be able to drop to PT when I actually get in to the nursing program. Just wanted to say hi since this seems to be the main active thread for UTA.

I'd like to introduce myself to the group:

My name is Nicole and I am a licensed attorney, former pharmaceutical rep & trainer, wife, mother of 3 and Group Fitness Instructor. I have been taking classes for the UTA AP and am employed by a partner hospital (part-time). I have taken 2 classes (Develop Psyc & Biol 1441 waiting for the grad to post now ;))))

I want to take A&P I & II and Micro between now and Dec to apply for the 1/5 deadline for next fall, but I fear that it will be overwhelming. In the alternative, I may be just taking A&PI the first session (8wk) then A&PII or Micro the second 8wk session.

I really need your advice -- Has anyone taken Frederick for A&P I or II online; also has anyone taken Baden for micro? I chose AP program because I can do it anywhere, anytime around the family and work schedule except for clinicals, but maybe I should take some of these prereqs online from another school that offers online curriculum that will transfer?

Congrats to Tejas03 and Libra1018 on your A's in A&P I and A&P II! Can you give some suggestions on how to conquer A&P and did you take these with UTA in the AP program?

-- question -- I thought Nutrition and medical terminology were not required in the UTA AP program -- did I read the materials wrong?

Thanks for this thread....I have been lurking the last few days

I am becoming so discouraged at finding a partnering hospital job....I've applied to SO many and not one interview has even been offered!! Ugh!! :( I know it's because I'm a LVN and they do not want to hire a LVN for a tech job out of fear I'll overstep my bounds....but trust me I'm good at doing the tech job if just given the chance!!! I've even started applying for unit secretary jobs since that's actually not considered patient contact and I'm still getting emails that say they've went with someone else.....what am I going to do??!! Without a job at a partnering hospital my chances of being accepted into UTA are slim!!! :(

Those of you that are working at partnering hospitals please tell me what you do and how long you searched before being hired....thanks!

@ Nikkibro. Navarro College offers many of the prereqs online. I've taken Art, General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Texas Government online with that school. I made A's in all of those classes. The only catch was that I had to go to a campus to take the test and finals (for all of those classes exepmt Art). Most teachers I've had give you about 1-2 weeks to take the tests/finals. As long as you do all your work and don't procrastinate, you will do fine.

Tejas--I just emailed you back :)

Also, I have been stalking DCCCD--El Centro and they just opened another section of Patho & Pharm. It is online, but it is the full term, not 8 weeks, and it starts Monday, 08/22. I am okay with that. It will cost me less than $500 for tuition whereas UTA was going to charge me $2100!! I just registered and paid. Glad I had not yet paid UTA for those 2 so I don't have to worry about waiting on a refund. If you are interested, go online NOW to register.

Nikkibro--I don't think either of them are. I already had Nutrition from prior years and I am taking Med Term to increase my chances of getting a job at a partnering hospital.
