Alas! Here I go again! This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!
@gracie2011....that's awesome about path and pharm for you! I am about to start pharm Aug 22nd..yikes! haha
Patho was a great class..just finished it and really enjoyed it! I completely agree with you about the "considerations!" I also have to keep telling myself that these advisors are trying! They are probably as overwhelmed as we are?! Taking the classes at a community college was a great idea!!
@katybusymom...I know!! I'm still trying to process it all...I still believe UTA is a great school I just think the popularity of this particular program is causing them to become overwhelmed with issues they may not have been able to foresee when they implemented it 2 years ago. I am also working on plan B...just in case!
@ashleynicole264, I don't know for sure that the extra considerations don't matter at all, but from what MY advisor has told ME, everything is based completely on GPA! I have a 3.73
I saw your previous post about you talking to an advisor in person yesterday. You said something about having to have a bachelor's degree to apply to this program? What's that about?
Also, I was considering talking to the Dean of nursing and making an appointment to talk with her. What really matters is what the admission board thinks and wants. The advisors are getting information trickled down from above and things change so much. Has anyone talked to the dean about what the admissions board actually looks for? I am considering bypassing the advisors all together after the experiences y'all have had.
@Katybusymom: I have a friend in the program who was not partnered with a hospital, but had a bachelor degree. Also, the two girls I talked to yesterday who were not partnered and had been accepted had previous bachelor degrees. They also advertise this program as an accelerated second degree seeking bachelor program. Maybe they admit both, I hav ebeen under the impression you must already have a degree for this program though. It will be a question I will ask next time.
@katybusymom: I remember Professor Ashwi from when I was a pre nursing student at UTA in 2006. I was in an accelerated degree type program, so I got to take an intro to nursing class. Anyways, she was the instructor. She does not seem the type to have much information. She was always constantly bombarded with nursing students. I guess we all just have to wait and see what happens. Did you apply for spring of 2012? And also, have you applied before?

@katybusymom : how do you know that the special considerations do not make a difference? Just trying to navigate through all of the information I have been given like everyone else. It seem like you have been through the process before.
