Hey all, I thought I would set up a place to discuss the next application period for UTA's Fall 2012 nursing program. There was so much info in the Spring 2012 forum, thought it might be helpful to start a new thread...
Post away!
Thanks! I did email my advisor and let her know, just in case :) She had previously told me that it wouldn't be considered for Fall 2012 but could for Spring. I guess we will see what happens.
Does anyone know what the rules are if you begin another nursing program somewhere else for Fall but then find out you get accepted to UTA for Spring? I think you can transfer to the campus program but as a Freshman I level? Does that sound right. I am just thinking about that senario in case it happens that way for me. If I don't get called from the waitlist for Fall I will be starting at Navarro to get my ADN.
So she had no considerations? You have to have taking three sciences at UTA for that to be a consideration. I have a 4.0 Science GPA and a 3.86 overall. I guess her overall GPA is a little higher than mine but I just don't understand the ranking process.
Marie, I don't get it. It's very disheartening. My science GPA is lower than yours, but my overall is the same. I do have the bachelor's degree consideration. Honestly, I was shocked when I was even waitlisted, as the other folks on the forum have science GPA's that are generally higher.
My advisor told me considerations were huge this application period b/c of the vast amount of 4.0's; that doesn't seem to line up with my friend's situation, as she has none. I really do think many of our speculations are correct...being a UTA student with a fair amount of hours are a boost, albeit whether they are prerequisite hours or not. I have taken Micro, Sociology, and Intro to Nursing, and Technical Writing at UTA since Fall 2011, with a B in micro and A's in the rest. The rest are random elective fillers to maintain full-time status for financial aid.
Who knows? I'm just crossing my fingers for all of us.
My advisor told me via email, "Calls to people on the waitlist will begin next week". She emailed this to me yesterday after I asked her :)Anyone else in Pharm and Patho? How are you liking the classes so far? For anyone who has already taken them online, any tips/suggestions for a successful semester??
Hi Ruby! I found patho really easy since some of the lectures was of Anatomy and Physiology. The only difficult part I had of Patho was memorizing the Signs and Symptoms of disease. Pharm was a pain in the butt because of all the medicines that we had to memorize. It was strictly, for me, a memorization class. I made A'sin both class through countless hours of studying. You won't need the book for Patho but you will need it for Pharm.
Good luck to everyone waiting for the call!

I am taking Pharm and Patho online this summer through UTA and my courses numbers are NURS 3365 and NURS 3366. Those are 3 hour classes. I think they just want to make sure you take them at UTA or through El Centro or Brookhaven (DCCCD).
