Hey all, I thought I would set up a place to discuss the next application period for UTA's Fall 2012 nursing program. There was so much info in the Spring 2012 forum, thought it might be helpful to start a new thread...
Post away!
im really sorry and i dont mean to include myself in the convo but im very confused. am i to believe that you cant transfer from tcc to uta for the bsn program? i went today to clear up a suspension (long story =() and i want to really get either rn or bsn. i would like to know because it would mean the difference between going to tcc for rn or trying for uta for bsn (which i feel REALLY intimidated with because ive seen people with 4.0s who get rejected =()

You finish an associate program at a community college to become a RN. Then you can apply for for the RN-BSN program at UTA. Good luck!
i spoke to the tcc academic counseling director yesterday and she gave me a list of stuff to take at tcc and then transfer to uta to finish up the courses. she didnt say rn-bsn she said straight to bsn. she said it shaved off 2 yrs of schooling. i made an appointment with an academic counselor at uta to clarify. ty for replying and grats to everyone who got in!

I'm pretty sure that list is the prereq for the bsn at uta. You will have to apply to enter the program after finishing the courses on that list...

The shaving 2 years off may be correct if you do the ADN and then RN-BSN route. The big problem is getting accepted into a program in the first place. It is true that many people with 4.0 gpa's have not been accepted on previous and current admission cycles. It really helps to have additional considerations at UTA like lot's of hours, partnered, previous degree, or know somebody; otherwise you may be waitlisted. Some people have been waitlisted a couple cycles now.
I would suggest staying with tcc and also applying at uta. I would even go as far as applying at all the local nursing schools. Take whatever you can get whether it's an ADN or BSN. Doing an RN-BSN later is pretty easy(it is still work) and you don't have to compete with anybody to get admitted.
thank you so very much for replying! i was discussing this with my husband. i think i will just do the RN thru TCC and then move up to BSN. two yrs wouldnt really be a big deal to me if i was already in the medical field first. with the straight to bsn i would have to wait even longer to begin nursing am i right?

I agree with you Marie2119...I do not understand the ranking process when I hear things like this. Oh well, what's done is done I guess. I am praying next week they will start calling.
