UTA BSN Online Spring 2019

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Hey everyone!

Just curious as to how many of us are applying to UTA's AO BSN for Spring 2019.

I'm planning on applying, but scared that I might not get accepted the first time.

Overall GPA should be roughly 3.06, Science GPA 3.75. 3 considerations.

I had an advising appointment earlier this week, and she said if I retake History (made a D), it would better my chances, but I am considered 'highly competitive' with my 3 considerations.

I had the same question and asked an advisor. They told me they do not review any applications until after the June 1st deadline. So as long as it is in by that day it doesn't matter

Hi everyone, I am applying for the spring 2019 program and took my TEAS exam today. I didn't do as well as I hoped. I made an 86 overall. I wish I had time to take the exam again, but unfortunately I don't since the deadline is June 1st. Does anybody know how they rank students, and how much weight they put into the TEAS exam scores? I'm worried my stats are not competitive.

Here's my stats:

4.0 GPA

4.0 science GPA

86 TEAS

No considerations

I'm taking Patho in the summer and Pharm and the elective in the fall.

Amber,

Those stats look great to me, especially with the 4.0! I'm sure we will be in Patho together this summer!

Thank you! I've just been freaking out lately. I called advising and they told me that as long as you get a proficient score on the teas exam, that's all they care about. They don't take the actual score into consideration when ranking students. So, that's a relief. Who are you taking patho with? I think my instructor is Davis.

Hi everyone,

I applied for the Fall 2018 AO-BSN cohort, but I was wait-listed. :/ I'm pretty bummed about how hard it is to get into this program. I just finished Patho, Intro to Nursing, Technical Writing, and Legacy of the Family this past semester, so all I have left to take is Pharm (this summer). I've already got my "blue card", titers, vaccines, etc. I'm all ready to go! I went ahead and applied for Spring 2019 in case they don't call me off the waiting list for the Fall...

My stats:

Overall GPA: 3.86

Science GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 86 cumulative ("advanced")

No considerations

Specializes in Pediatric Hem/Onc.

More info! :)

One of the advisors told me they have a point system for admission - your two GPAs (max of 8 points) plus each consideration is worth .5 points (veteran status, 12 or more natural science prereq credits from UTA, 30 or more lower-division prereq credits from UTA, previous degree).

The maximum amount of points you can have is 10. She said anything above 7 is considered pretty competitive.

If you're partnered, you will only be pooled with other partnered applicants instead of all 900-1200 applicants (INSANE numbers, btw!) :wideyed:

Hello all!

I am currently a UTA student and I just submitted my application for the campus based Spring 2019 start. I am still deciding on whether I should apply to the AO program as well... any pros and cons anyone would like to share?

I am soooo nervous about getting in, I will be crushed if I am rejected.

My stats are:

Science GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: 3.842

2 Considerations: BS in Cognitive Science from UT Dallas '16, and all sciences taken at UTA.

From what I have heard, having above 8 points on the scale is competitive. I will have 8.842 points, so I just hope that is enough, but you never know who you are pooled against.

Has anyone taken Pharm and Patho together? Would that be a big mistake?

Hey every one! I read the thread on here from last year students applying for UTA BSN Spring 2018 and a lot of a great applicants got wait listed. It makes me super nervous! Does any one know people who have gotten into the AO BSN program and what their stats were? I need so hope! lol

I haven't. But I am doing both this fall 2018.

Wow this is super helpful! Thank you!!

I have heard they're POSSIBLE together but not recommended. And personally, I'm in Pathos currently and I would highly recommend NOT taking them together. It's a nightmare of a class already! Just my opinion and the advisors advise against taking them together. So if you can avoid that I would!
