UT Southwestern GN Internship

Hi All,

Just submitted my application to UT Southwestern's GN internship program beginning in July 2015. Hoping for the critical care or ER track. Has any one else applied? Will they be hiring more applicants this year due to their new facility? Any help would be appreciated!

thedit, I'm in nursing school right now and am looking for a HUC or Tech position at UTSW.

What's the best way to go about ?

It seems like everytime I apply to a job online, I get an automatic response a few days later saying they've gone with someone else.

I have friends that applied to L&D and NICU who have heard about interviews, but has anyone that applied to critical care or ED heard back yet?

What was everyone that got denied 's GPA like/hospital experience?

Well everyone in my class who applied for the L&D one already got denial letters saying they're not even considering us for an interview.. So yeah lol

But we haven't heard anything about Med/Surg yet!

Well I can't speak for everyone else but my GPA is a 3.41 and I've had a lot of clinical hospital experience, worked my way through nursing school as a pharmacy technician, and have done many volunteer opportunities as well as been on the executive board for our Student Nurses Association all 4 semesters.

But I guess it's about who you know and if you've been a CNA or something. :( *sigh*

I just wish somebody would give me the chance to interview!

Well I got my denial email from critical care this morning. Has anyone heard anything about the ED?

Received my denial letter as well. Very bummed, BUT still in the medsurg pool. Really wanted the critical care though...:no:

I currently work at the new CUH (on bone marrow transplant floor). And yes, we have a number of positions to fill, especially in ER and ICU! I would imagine they will be willing to take on a few new grads. Good luck!

How did you all apply for both ER , critical care, and med surg? I thought you could only apply to one

I only applied to L&D but once Denise sent me the denial letter she asked me if I wanted to be considered for the med/surg internship as well and I said yes. That's how I applied to both, but I'm not sure how people have been applying to 3 or more.
