i hear philosophy is pretty cool. i took intro to ethics instead of philo. someone told me the reading would be less archaic (and they were seemingly correct).

Actually, I was hoping an ethics class was offered via internet at HCC over the summer. If critical thinking is offered, I may consider that. After all, critical thinking is the "foundation" of nursing practice, isn't it? According to other posts, its a very important element. So, I'll have to think about it, if I even get in. It I'm accepted to UTMB, I already have all of their prerequisites finished. Hmmmm, I better dig out my CompII notes and rememorize the paragraph progession I was taught. I hope I still have the notes. I had a very tough instructor. We not only had a paper to do; his final exam was giving us a topic and we had two hours to do an essay on it. I wonder it UT will let me bring a thesaurus? :chuckle

If I keep from getting to psyched out about the whole thing, I should do OK.

I think a few of you go in before I do (the 16th), so you'll have to let me know what it was like. Of course, out of fairness, I don't expect any details. But, I'll be curious as to the atmosphere and how ya'll think you did.

How long do yall think the writing samples have to be?

How many people do they interview a day? I mean is it going to be a whole bunch of us in a room writing these things? I'm pretty clueless about how this whole thing works!

Oh man....yall sound just like I did when I was in this phase. I've spoken with some of you already about the interview phase. Currently I am student at UT-H (I'm in my second semester of the first year). If you have specific questions, please feel free to PM me. If I remember correctly there were about 30 people in the room doing the whole "writing sample" thing. I remember we signed in, then they show you a video of "what it takes to be a UT student"....I hated it so don't feel discouraged if you feel the same way. Afterwards, you'll be given the writing sample......people finished as quick as 15 min...but afterwards you are free to leave, so the whole thing maybe took me 1.5 hours. Good luck to all of you!!

where should i park?

There is a small lot right behind the school, it charges by the hour like most places, but you'll probably be there for 2 hours tops, so you may want to check into that. Also, there is the South Extension Lot.....I'm bad at directions but I'm sure you can pull it up on some med center website....its not that close to the school; maybe a 1/2 mile walk, but it's like $1.00 for 4 hours.

btw: I took a drive over there today and there's a parking lot, just as goddessue has said in the methodist (??) hospital right across the street on Bertner.
