Hey guys. I talked to a rep at UT today and she said they had around 1800 applications this year! 500 have been picked for this 2nd phase. Then, around 140 (I think she said - I may be wrong) will be picked for the program. Having said that, I don't know if I'll make it much past the 2nd phase going by your GPAs.

Mine are as follows:

Nursing Prereqs: 3.8570

Undergrad Total: 3.7040

Science : 3.5000 (My son came down with scarlett fever the week of finals that year, so I ended up doing poorly on my finals; thus, ended up with a B in my Micro and A&P II classes.)

I guess my science GPA may end up doing me in? All I have left to take is philosophy; however, that would not boost my science GPA. Oh well, I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

Oh, by the way, she also told me we would know by April if we were in the program or not.

I think you still have a great chance of getting in! I heard even people with 4.0's get turned down after this phase so i guess we all just have to do really well on the writing sample. Thanks for notifying us of the application stats!

i'll keep mine crossed for you too! but like DeltaX said, you still have as much a chance as any of us. some people are totally science minded, and have 4.0s in all of their science classes, but they can't articulate any career goals, or give a valid reason for wanting to be a nurse. keep your chin up. good things happen to good people!

I wouldnt worry about that right now. Lets just get through the next phase as best as we can cuz we'll have nearly 2 MONTHS to sit and worry and wonder if we're gettin in or not!!!!! They picked you out of 1800 for a reason so just take advantage of it and do your best to stand out in the crowd of 400 :)

Reenee- i second that! we should all be proud of at least being 1 of the 500 people who actually got interviews!

Just wondering...did any of yall add anything extra to your apps? I sent in 2 letters o/recommendations and a resume haha i hope it helps in any way!

How in the heck did you finish the 40 hours of pre-reqs(or whatever number of pre-reqs are required to apply) at the age of 18? When did you start college?!!!!...Just out of curiosity :)

Yes, I applied there also; however, their cutoff date is a little later than UT's, so we probably won't hear anything for awhile. I attended an open house at UTMB and I think the speaker mentioned getting letters in May??
