UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated Program

Published

Hello All,

I am currently in the process of trying to get into the UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated program. I am not sure if there is a thread already started. But if there is not one I would like to start one. Hopefully we can use this thread and keep up with one another. Who else is hoping to get into UT Houston's Summer 2010 Accelerated program?

Ladykee that was also a question I had. But from researching the previous classes entered I believe we will have to go through the interview process all over again. But I hope not.

You know I really want to get into the accelerated program but I would be just as happy to get accepted for the the fall. On previous threads I noticed how everyone moved to Facebook once they were notified of their acceptances. As for the people who were not accepted they probably were not motivated to keep telling us about their experience!!!

I am so nervous that I will not be accepted. My overall GPA is horrible: 2.943. What in the holy monkey was I thinking when I was in college?? My science gpa is 3.5 and my nurse prereq gpa is 3.35. I got a 90 composite score on my NET though and I felt that I did well on my interview.

It looks like the rest of you will for sure make it in! How will I ever make it until mid-March to find out???

I have a question - How many of you had volunteer experience or outside activities? I plan to apply, but I don't have any extracurriculars since I work and go to school full time. I hope it doesn't affect my application much!

Texcat I am soo nervous too. Serene, I volunteered as a medical assistant for a year prior. Not sure how much they weigh that tho. The interviewer told me I had that going for me and that fact that I already did online courses...so we shall see :)

bach09 - volunteering as a medical assistant I would think would be GREAT experience for this. I would say that you definitely have that going for you. By the way, where were you able to volunteer as a med assistant? I work at Methodist and I tried to shadow some nurses through volunteer services, but they would not allow the shadowing. Also, I have taken several online courses, I wish I had mentioned that!

Serene - I have no volunteer experience except for what I did in college which was years ago. So I am a little worried about that, although I do have experience working with patients from working in clinical research. sooo...

All there is to do is stalk UTlink, allnurses, and the mail box. Maybe I could somehow rig a month long vacation to a tropical island until mid March?? I don't think my current job would go for that (not to mention my husband). Oh well...

LOL texcat, a vacation would be nice until then. I was able to volunteer at a Army clinic in Germany where i lived since they had no job openings but were wanting the help. Hey at least is already the 10th :).....

I have my interview tomorrow! Yikes! I am so nervous and I feel so unprepared. Does anyone else interview tomorrow? I received an invite for the Fall 2010 as well...I don't know if I have to attend that interview as well...I guess I'll find out tomorrow. So, I know the interview process is four hours, but how long is the actual interview and essay sitting?

CMPBSN, Good luck! I was there from about 10 to 2:30. The process started right at 11:30 and then we took a break about an hour and half later. Once the break was over the interviews started and they would call like 2 people back at a time. Just breathe and relax :) You will do great

Awesome. I plan on arriving pretty early myself, beat that traffic. I should probably go to bed now, trying to calm down. Thanks! Good luck to all! I am so ready to start the program!!

So, my interview was today...it went well....now the wait.

Yes the wait...hurry up March!!
