UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

I havent received mine... but definitely hoping it comes tomorrow... or this week

Ali - I would weigh whats more important - the events or getting done a semester earlier than TWU. Not to be pessimistic, but I dont think that clinical teachers would be very understanding of having to miss these classes since you knew you'd have these classes to take. But if it were me and I really wanted to go to these events and it didnt matter too much if I graduated a semester later, I would just go to TWU. The schools seem to be equally qualified, so I don't think you'd be worse off going to TWU.

Hope this helps

i really don't care about graduating a semester later, and actually if ut didn't go in the summer i would chose it in a heartbeat. that's the only thing holding me back. the only reasons i like ut more that twu is because i feel more at home there, and i like that they picked their students based on more than just grades and test scores, but if they won't be understanding of these things (i understand they may not seem important to some people but they're very important to me and i really think i'd regret missing them years from now) then i'd gladly go to twu. i guess another positive of twu is i could study abroad the second summer, which i had planned on doing this year but couldn't since i decided i wanted to go to nursing school

Specializes in none as of yet, hoping for ped oncology!.

Sorry folks, the position of My New Best Friend has now officially been filled by Ali haha

has anyone gotten their official admissions letter/packet yet? i've been bothering my parents everyday about this! :p

No, but I got ANOTHER official transcript evaluation in the mail that I THOUGHT was my admission letter. I jumped up and down and did a dorky dance, only to open it and find the third transcript eval I have received to date. It felt like false advertising lol!

i know we don't get to pick our schedule, but does anybody know if we get to fill out a prefrence sheet or anything like that for clinical times? or if not this first semester, if we get to do that the following semesters?

I believe I remember being told that you will be asked if you prefer morning, evening, or overnights and that they will TRY to accomodate the area you live in (i.e. by not putting someone from the northwest side of Houston in a southeast hospital location).

Well if you don't mind graduating a semester later, why waste time if you end up not getting to miss those clinicals? Maybe try calling up and asking about it... they might be able to give you a definite answer about missing those clinicals... and thats really cool about twu studying abroad, and it sounds like they have a good program, it would be bad if you missed those events when you have another option.

i don't see it as wasting my time, i'd rather go to ut, and who actually knows if i will have clinicals, or even class, on either of these days, since they're both saturdays. i'm going to attend both orientations and then decide, and while i'm there ask about how cooperative profs will be.

I talked to my aunt who is a PA and she said she likes the Littman Cardiology II stethoscope I thinks its about 150$. She also said that the faculty will probably recommend one.

I called yesterday, and I was told they'll go in the mail today. Maybe we'll get them by Friday or Saturday.

that's awesome! thanks for checking that out! it'll be nice to have something official saying we got in! :)

It will be awesome to get the official letter. My status on UT link just changed on tuesday. It was starting to make me crazy that it hadn't changed yet.
