Anyone here applied already?
Have you taken the NET exam?
okay thanks for that!
hmm... i'm guessing they'll do bootcamp sessions for you guys like they did for us. It was somewhat useful... at least it got you used to sitting in lecture for 4+ hours at a time. :) They introduced you to how classes would run, how grades are calculated, how to write nursing care plans, and the like. I think they would probably schedule it for the following Tuesday and Wednesday (August 24th and 25th) but i'm not too sure. Our class didn't have much turn around time from fall and spring semester. maybe they'll do it before the orientation instead of after.
Advice? I guess without going into any of the classes specifically i would say... don't get behind and stay on top of your work. It is possible to get good grades but you will need to work hard for them. You learn a lot first semester and it'll probably be one of your toughest. You all will definitely get close and probably get on each other's nerves many times, but you really do need each other to get through classes.
So the bootcamp sessions are like lectures? I can't wait to get my packet and now I need to start looking at apartments! I like in Katy too (Cinco) but with my parents and now I am moving out to live with a friend in town. I think I'm going to do contract parking too just because I don't like having to do the park and ride. I really think we should do that happy hour, I really want to meet everyone!

The only way they are like the lectures during the semester is the length. There are some days at the beginning of the semester (since you guys won't be in clinicals until probably late october/early november) where you're in class from 8 to 12 then from 1 to 5.
Looking back I'm not sure why they introduced us to nursing process/care plans during bootcamp... we didn't know enough then to understand what we were learning. Anyhow, the sessions weren't mandatory for us but the J2s (second semester juniors) told us to go to them. I think they will provide that this fall for you guys, but don't quote me on that.
My summer is going to be busy.. I am getting married on June 20th and then will be gone for 8 days on our honeymoon then come back and move into our new appartment! Plus I am taking a mini-mester class (taking micro-comp applications) so I can finnish up my associates in science degree.
Anyone else have any little ones? I have a three year old. We could get together and study while the kiddos play
Congrats to everyone that got accepted today I hope you enjoyed the exciting news!!! My status changed yesterday but I didnt get an official email until today. Now it feels official and I can relax about it finally. From the looks of it I am in the traditional program too and very content and happy to be in the program regardless of what type it is. Now I just have to sell my house in Austin quit my job and move to Houston . If anyone decides to do a happy hour please post a date on the blog or facebook. I think it will be fun to meet people ahead of time. Can it hurry up and be August already.... I am so ready for this change and so excited to get started.
