UT Health Pacesetter Spring 2019

Published

I know its a bit early to start this forum seeing as the deadline is September 1; however, I wanted to have a place to communicate with all the people applying for the spring semester. we might be able to help each other out with information about deadlines, application status, plus its also nice to talk with people going through the same thing as you. I'll just start by introducing myself.

My name is Edera,

I am currently a senior in High School. I will be graduating High School with my Associate's degree, thanks to the dual credit classes I have been taking. When I finish High School I will have 40 of the 60 credit hours completed. I will be taking Chemistry, Microbiology, and Growth & Development in the Summer, and then Intro to Sociology, Statistics, and Nutrition in the Fall. I have yet to take my Hesi, I plan on taking it in June or August. I plan on starting the application this week.

Hope to see many of you here, so that we are able to help out one another. Good Luck everyone!! xhappy2.png.pagespeed.ic.zjIVMhQq4z.webp

In regards to the Hesi test scores unless you used the school code then they should receive them automatically. On your application you list the score individually with each subject.

Hi! Do you mean cumulative overall of everything ever taken? What do you think was considered on the low side? I'm just wondering because I still have to figure out my GPA from previous degrees. The GPA system used at my old school is pretty different from the ones in Texas, so trying to figure out what it is exactly.

Science GPA: 4.0

Prereq GPA: 3.8

HESI

Reading: 94

Grammar: 86

Vocab: 98

A&P: 100

Math: 94

I still need philosophy and microbiology which I will be taking in the fall.

My stats are pretty good, but after looking at posts from previous dates, their overall GPA has been too low. That may be my case since I have a previous degree I didn't care much for. We will see! Good luck everyone!

Yes, overall of everything. The lowest I have seen accepted

was a 3.4 but it probably depends on the GPA of the group applying. At the same time I've seen people with almost perfect stats and they don't get accepted. It's a mystery how they choose haha.

In my case, my overall is a 3.1, maybe 3.2 now that I have all these As from taking pre nursing courses. It's not terrible by any means, but I'm still worried!

I just wanted to add that the overall GPA that I mentioned is just from what I've seen from other threads where posters have tried to figure out why they weren't accepted. According to their website, they just look at your pre nursing grades and your required science grades. :)

When I first signed up for emails earlier this year, they sent an email labeled "how to get in" that read:

"The review process includes a careful review of all documents required including your transcripts and HESI scores. Each component of your application is reviewed including your overall cumulative GPA, HESI scores (with special emphasis on scores in Anatomy and Physiology), and grades earned in sciences and the regular prerequisites.

The admissions committee at the School of Nursing are charged with creating the admission requirements and reviewing all completed applications. Their careful review will determine students who are admitted, waitlisted and those denied."

Also, I went to an information session earlier this year and somebody specifically asked if they looked at our whole entire college career GPA and they said they do, and that we shoud keep that in mind when applying.

Kind of a bummer :/

Hey guys! So if something isnt showing in the to do list anymore, that means its taken care of?

I know the answer is pretty clear, but i just want to be %100 sure!

Thanks!

Yes, that's what it means!

How's everybody feeling as we near the deadline on Saturday?!

I'm just ready for applications to be closed & decisions to come out, although the website says on or around November 15 I'm hoping we'll hear things sooner.

I'm so nervous!

Did anyone apply to different nursing schools other than UTHealth?

I applied for SHSU as my second choice & Lonestar (would bridge to BSN after ADN) as my last option, I considered TWU as well but application/transcript fees began adding up quickly!

I'm so ready to get started in a program and enter the workforce. What about you?
