UT Health Pacesetter Spring 2019

Published

I know its a bit early to start this forum seeing as the deadline is September 1; however, I wanted to have a place to communicate with all the people applying for the spring semester. we might be able to help each other out with information about deadlines, application status, plus its also nice to talk with people going through the same thing as you. I'll just start by introducing myself.

My name is Edera,

I am currently a senior in High School. I will be graduating High School with my Associate's degree, thanks to the dual credit classes I have been taking. When I finish High School I will have 40 of the 60 credit hours completed. I will be taking Chemistry, Microbiology, and Growth & Development in the Summer, and then Intro to Sociology, Statistics, and Nutrition in the Fall. I have yet to take my Hesi, I plan on taking it in June or August. I plan on starting the application this week.

Hope to see many of you here, so that we are able to help out one another. Good Luck everyone!! xhappy2.png.pagespeed.ic.zjIVMhQq4z.webp

Hi! I was ready for decisions to come out even before I submitted my application lol! So yes, I'm right there with you, Asham. My birthday is on the 14th of November, so I am hoping for good news! Wishing EVERYONE all the luck in the world and then some! :)

Haha, I feel you there! Well fingers crossed that you get the birthday gift of acceptance!! :D

Are you applying to any other programs in addition to UTHealth?

Hi!

I took the HESI today, and did well overall, but I was wondering, do you think they will look at the score for each individual part of Reading? I got a 92 on Reading, 100 on Vocab, 100 on Grammar, 100 on AP, and a 98 on Math with a 98% cumulative. The only thing I'm worried about is that on Reading I guess the main questions I missed were in the "Conclusions" section of the Reading Comprehension. I got a 67% on that part, 89% on Understanding, but 100% on the other Reading Comp parts. I'm just worried that the one low number will have me kicked out even though the overall Reading Score is still a 92. I hope that makes sense! I'm really just finding stuff to freak out about.

Fantastic job on your HESI! Honestly, I don't think you've got anything to worry about as I'm not sure anybody makes acceptance decisions based on the sub parts of the sub parts! Lol, I know some weigh the individual portions but nothing beyond that. I wouldn't stress about it personally, you killed the exam and I think your chances look pretty good in my opinion!

They do not look at sub-scores like conclusions or understanding.

Thank you! I guess I'm just going over anything I could have possibly overlooked.

How long did it take for everyone's HESI scores to show up in the UTH Online Application? I remember hearing at the info session that the scores go through right away, but mine haven't shown up. Concerned I might not make the 9/1 deadline.

They do not look at sub-scores like conclusions or understanding.

Thanks! That's a relief.

Hi all! I've applied for Spring 2019 as well, so I wanted to introduce myself. I have a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in business from Texas A&M, and I've been working in the corporate world for several years now. However, I've never felt it was a good fit for me and I've always regretted not going into healthcare. So, here I am now. I just finished my last pre-req class (Chemistry) so I'm finally done and now just sitting back and waiting to hear more....not very patiently I'm afraid! Dying to hear back. UTHealth is my first choice, but I've also applied to UTMB for Summer 2019.

HESI cumulative: 96.4%

Math: 98%

Reading: 92%

Grammar: 100%

Vocab: 96%

A&P: 96%

My overall undergrad GPA is a little hard to figure out since I've taken pre-req classes at two different community colleges in addition to A&M... It's probably about a 3.6. I have a 3.9 or so in the nursing pre-reqs, and a 4.0 in the science pre-reqs.

I'm hoping we hear back in October instead of November, but that's just wishful thinking on my part :) Doesn't seem like last year's spring class heard back before mid-November, based on these forums.

Hi all!

I just realized I never introduced myself. I'm applying to Spring 2019. I graduated from USC (University of Southern California) with degrees in Business and Psychology. After having a career for a decade or so, I decided that I really wanted to pursue nursing, and that's when I started taking my science pre-reqs. UTH is my first choice, but I'm also a bit worried I won't be able to do handle it bc my last degrees were from 2005 haha. Also, I'm a single (divorced) mom of 2 young boys, so that gets difficult to work around with not having any help in childcare and with the house, etc.

Here are my stats:

HESI: 98% overall (92 in Reading, 98 in Math, 100 in Vocab, 100 in Grammar, 100 in AP).

Science GPA: 4.0

Nursing Pre-req GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA (including everything I've ever taken for past degrees): 3.74

So, once we send our transcripts and Hesi scores, we are done until November? I am so paranoid I'm missing something.

Wow that's the best HESI score I've ever seen!

@ph0603 Your score is amazing! How did you make it?!

As the last day for applications winds down, I just want to wish everybody here the absolute best of luck in the selection process!

It's going to be a nerve-recking roller coaster these next few months as we anxiously await decisions. I hope to see this thread filled with exciting posts of acceptances & hope we all get to start our nursing journey together. :D
