UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018

Published

Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).

I'll start:

I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.

I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.

God bless.

Does anyone have an idea about how financial aid works in UTHSC? I took some classes this fall in HCC, and I wonder if I will still receive financial aid in UTHSC for the coming Spring and Summer, or will I be entitled for just one semester? Thanks

I had this question a few months ago so I talked to the university I'm at now and also to UTHSC. This is what I was told: The amount of financial aid you receive every year from FAFSA is split up into two semesters (Spring and Fall) so if you have already claimed your Fall portion at the school you're currently at, that same school most likely shows that you also have aid for the Spring semester since they're expecting you to be enrolled for the Spring semester there as well. You'll need to add UTH to your 2017-2018 FAFSA school list if you haven't already and once you find out that you've been accepted, you'll need to call the school you're currently at and tell them you wish to deny the Spring financial aid so that money can be freed up and available for UTHSC to accept. The financial aid disbursement dates vary school to school so be careful that you don't wait until after you current school's financial aid has been officially disbursed for the Spring semester or else you may not receive any aid at UTHSC. I've already looked and UTHSC's financial disbursement date is January 2, 2018.

Anyone found housing yet?

Thanks Victoria! I filled the form to cancel the aid and I went ahead to pay the tuition out of pocket. Thanks for the advice. I will call the school to verify it has been cancelled.

Anyone in the past that was "Waitlisted" that made it into the program? Thanks :)

I just got waitlisted as well. However I am going to decline my spot on the waitlist, so hopefully that will free up some room!

Mine still says "under review" :( preparing for denial and a putting together a summer 2018 application. Congrats to those who got in or at least waitlisted.

Just curious, why are you choosing to decline the waitlist?

Hi! I have to relocate before January and I have 3 kids. Please, if anyone could help me with any idea about late hours daycare and a 2 bedroom house, I would be grateful. Thanks

Robindell Private School. Is open 24 hours. Once upon a child is open on the weekends as well, I think.
