Hey everyone! I did not see a post for applicants for Ut Austin's Alternate Entry MSN program for 2020, so I started one! I know the application just opened a few days ago but with all everyone balances, I figure why not start now? I am applying for their PMNHP specialty.
That's what I love about nursing among so many othere, it's so much easier to transition into at different stages on your life. I admire that you're having the courage to do it, many just toss their dreams aside kids or no kids. Really??? I was scanning so maybe I didn't pay enough attention but it seems like 66 percent get in. 60 apply and between 30-38 get in so that's pretty good odds. I think psych is 25 or less. I feel the same way, even though it is in healthcare considering I'm fresh out of college I have a lot less experience in comparison. I'm hoping that is where being holistic will come into play for us. Especially if you were able to relate to skills you learned to nursing and working with diverse populations is always a plus. I'm distracting myself with work and I have a whopping 3-4 classes left so I have plenty to occupy my mind. You're right, WHEN we get in I hope I can look forward to meeting you ?

I was reading about quite a few people who did not get into LeaDs on the previous thread. What were the stats that Tracy sent? I would love to know. Might put my mind at ease. I have all of the requirements, but my background is definitely not in the medical field. I expected a lot of people to have very diverse backgrounds, but it seems like most people have a lot more experience than me. I think that is what got me the most worried when I was reading through the posts. Bummer that the timeline seems to be pretty consistent year to year. I was hoping it might be different this time. Oh well, I have my online pharmacology class to distract me for a little while....I guess I am grateful for that? LOL. Hoping to meet you WHEN we get accepted ?
Hi EtheGreat I can relate. I have kids and don't want to move out of state. I'm planning on moving to Round Rock next spring, hoping that I'll get into the program. If I don't I'll apply next year and try again. This waiting is hard! But hopefully time will go by fast and January will be here before we know it! Good Luck!
Hi! I've been waiting for a thread on the 2020 cycle and I just found it lol. I applied for LeaDS and have a hope of being an ER/trauma nurse practitioner in the future. I know from previous cycle threads that interview invitations typically get sent anytime between late October and mid-late November. Just curious to see if anyone has heard anything yet!

Also is there an interview for it?
There should be an interview for all candidates who make it to that point, yup.
It may be a couple more weeks before we hear anything, based on last year info, the background check emails started around Nov. 20th.
