Hey everyone! I did not see a post for applicants for Ut Austin's Alternate Entry MSN program for 2020, so I started one! I know the application just opened a few days ago but with all everyone balances, I figure why not start now? I am applying for their PMNHP specialty.

Lauryn, did you fill it out by hand and scan it? That was how I did it last year. If you filled it out electronically, maybe there's something that needs to be done to the file to keep it from getting stripped out, like "File > export" or "save as" something that's just an image. Hard to say but I hope it gets worked out for you!
Can't believe I never saw this smh, but I was about to do that. Since a scanner was not quickly accessible I ultimately ended up using an app that worked. Thank you for these tips though because I'm not tech savvy at all ???

Oh, in the important info email Tracy sent I could've sworn it said by Oct 1st, but maybe I'm wrong. Your best bet would be to contact Tracy via email or call her, she responds fairly quickly. Maybe you can ask someone from last year's forum as well who was in a similar situation, Oct 1st was just what I understood. Maybe a day or 2 after

One of my references told me the e-mail she received said they have 45 days to complete the recommendation ?

Retracting...not 45 days, all due October 1st. Tracy wrote back very quickly, fortunately. Sorry for all of the comments here! Thank you for your help, Lauryn!
Just wondering what other programs everyone applied to? Since freaking out this morning, I have been researching other options (I live just outside of Austin) and I am not finding a ton of things that look promising. I was thinking about trying to find a stand alone RN program (hopefully accelerated) and then applying to a stand-alone MSN program if that exists. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really want to get an MSN, but would consider a second Bachelor's degree if I don't get into the AE-MSN program. I just want to make sure I am not putting all my eggs in one basket.
There are definitely stand alone accelerated BSN programs as well as stand alone MSN programs. I personally didn't do as much research into which specific ones I may possibly be interested in because I am determined to take this specific route. However, when I was first searching for programs on certain nursing websites I had to exclude all the stand alone bsn programs and MSN programs for people who got their msn so I know they're out there. A lot of the same schools that have alternate entry have a program for people who have a bsn. I know there is at least one in Texas, but I'm not sure if it's promising for you. I'm also not sure if you have a family or anything that keeps you from being able to make a big move because I know that plays a factor. I personally am applying to Yale,Boston,Upenn and Vanderbilt ( go big or go home I guess). Upon Google searching I saw Baylor, texas a&m and university of texas Tyler have Accelerated BSN programs

Thanks for the reply! You go girl! I think it is great that you are going for it! I am sure you will find the perfect school. Yeah, I definitely can't move. I have two young children and my husband is an attorney here in Austin. I found some accelerated BSN programs, but a lot of them want you to retake courses in order to have a certain number of credit hours from their school. I am not interested in repeating courses that I already took for my first degree. This is definitely the route I want to take, I just got discouraged after reading yesterday and was looking for other options just in case. Hopefully, it's a mute point and I get in... I did everything I could do and I just have to keep reminding myself of that. Best of luck to you and I really hope we get some news sooner than people on the previous thread. Seems like a really long time to wait.
Thank you!!! Yeah I'm lucky in the sense that I don't really need to consider that. I wouldn't start over either, especially after working so hard the first time. Best of luck to you as well. Are you applying for Leads? Most of the people who I heard are applying for that end up getting in. Tracy sent me the stats for that. Essentially PMHNP(what i applied for) has the lowest number of seats with ags second and LeaDs having the largest seats available. That's why people they like but don't want to give them a psychiatric seat get deferred to it. I still am not sure how i'll react if they ask me to apply to that instead. As you said, hopefully it's a moot point. I looked for the year before this as well and unfortunately it seems like they are consistent with their timeline. Interviews in December and then letting you know around January.

Sharing what I learned in the information session (sorry to echo what you might already know) they stated why seats are so low for PMHNP is because they only have two specialized preceptors for that track, so the ratio has to be lower. And, CNS and Leads have the greater amount of preceptors so they can seat more students.
Sounds like some awesome choices you have applied to, that is great! I wish you all the luck ?
I am in the same position, though without children, my husband’s job will always be in Austin so moving is not an option for us either.
