UT AE-MSN 2019

Published

Hey everyone! I haven't seen a new thread for people applying to UT Austin's 2019 AE-MSN program, so I figured I'd start one :) I haven't had any correspondence from the school since submitting final material on October 1st. Anyone hear anything back from the school yet??

I just got my acceptance to CNS. So excited and i just can't hide it. Is there a facebook group for our cohort yet?

Hi Dyamond!

I sent you a personal message on this site. I am not sure if I did it correctly. I’m new to this website/blog posts ?

Congrats! Do you know what number you were on the waitlist?

Hi, I was accepted to the LeaDS program in January but I am just making an account on here. Could I please be added to the Facebook page? Very excited for what the next few years have to hold, and congratulations everyone!! Can't wait to meet y'all.

Just got my offer! Woooo. Can i please be added to the facebook group as well ?

Kaylee Graybill, my profile picture is just of me with the Eiffel tower (in vegas) behind me. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Hi, I just sent a request to join the FB group! My name is Alexandra Fisk :)

Congrats to those who got admitted to AE-MSN program! I am currently a junior in UW-Madison majoring in Biology and Psychology, and I just decided to apply for the pmhnp program this year! Because I am still a full-time student, I did not have extensive working experiences in the health field, which somehow causes me to worry about this aspect. However, I have been working in a clinical psych research lab and neuroscience research lab since freshman year and am currently volunteering in an adapted fitness program, hospitals, and taking a part-time job as a behavioral treatment technician at a program that treats children with autism. My academic background should be fine with a 3.9 GPA and an average GRE score (324+4). Since I saw lots of you have excellent backgrounds and grades, I am wondering should I get more internships or healthcare working experiences to be better prepared? Or should I retake my GRE because it might not be high enough? Any thoughts are highly appreciated. Thanks!

They accept only 8 people a year with hundreds of applicants so definitely get as much psychiatric related experience as you can! Without it you're likely to get deferred to LEADS which adds a 4th year to the PMHNP program. A lot of the people they accept to AE-PMHNP have experience as social workers or other roles in psychiatry.

I'll be doing LEADS to PMHNP with similar academic scores as you and a 4 year background as a health educator doing CBT and Motivational interviewing helping people to take control of their lifestyle choices.

Good luck!
