UT AE-MSN 2019

Hey everyone! I haven't seen a new thread for people applying to UT Austin's 2019 AE-MSN program, so I figured I'd start one :) I haven't had any correspondence from the school since submitting final material on October 1st. Anyone hear anything back from the school yet??

Thanks for starting this. And I'm in the same boat.

Same as me!

Are applying for psych NP?

My application status reads "in review" and I have not heard any new information, either! Thank you for starting this thread--I am really excited/anxious to hear any news!

I am applying psych! I mean, it's in my username lol

Hi,

Is there any update?

Nothing here.

I applied for the PMHNP AE program, so far no update! Fingers crossed!

Looking at last year's thread, some people starting receiving correspondence mid-November.

Probably will not start hearing back re: interviews until next week or the following. The first couple of weeks after the submission deadline are spent weeding out all applications that were not complete. Then it goes through a department review immediately after. That lasts roughly a couple weeks as well.

Wishing everyone luck in the process, and hopefully we start receiving interview invitations soon :)

I also applied for this upcoming year and have received a few emails from Tracy, one which was asking me to clarify my Human Growth and Dev class pre-requ. I am just wondering if my stats are competitive for the PMHNP program as it sounds extremely competitive. I think we should start hearing about interviews within the next couple of weeks so I am anxious to hear something. Has anyone been deferred to the LeaDs program from PMHNP yet? I know my GPA is competitive but my GRE was only a 305 with 4.5 in writing... I did not have time to retake it so had to take what I got on the first try! I could have definitely improved my quant which was my lowest area.

Hey:D I unfortunately got the email about not being considered for the PMHNP, but invited to be 'reviewed ' for LeaDs if I wanted to submit another SOP. That was Nov 1st & Tracy needed to have a response by last Friday.

I said I would reapply for a LeaDs spot. But, haven't sent in an updated SOP...it's SO hard to switch gears in direction. I'm still kind of stunned of the denial:(

I'm a retired chiropractor of 20 yrs, mother of almost 4 grown kids, GRE-297 (I know-that's low-but didn't have enough time to take it again), 3.5 cum (w/ doctorate) and will have a 3.75 on pre-reqs-can prob have a 4.0 if I didn't think I was throwing $$ & time away. I totally don't mind re-taking these classes b/c my classes were a long time ago, BUT, it would really be disappointing if I took them & got denied, ya know?

Anybody else in the same boat??

Thanks!

Glad to see this post! I applied for CNS, haven't heard anything other than the initial e-mail from Tracey. Anyone else get an update yet?!

Hi All,

I too received the email re: not being considered for review. I inquired further, and Tracy is receptive to inquiries re: feedback if that is something you would like.

To provide a little more detail, they do a pre-review process as a means of triaging applications. They only review the top 40% of applicants solely based on your GPA/GRE scores. Those of us that were already contacted and offered LeaDs (rather than PMHNP) were not within the top 40% to be reviewed. Though I understand it systemically given the large # of apps they get and the few spots they have, but I share y'alls frustration in that all of our materials were not considered. My GRE was not my top priority because I wasn't aware of the aforementioned, so I prioritized my 3 prereqs and 2 labs they require rather than my GRE given the GRE, in large, will not be as applicable as the pre-reqs. I have a 7 month old daughter, work a full time clinical research position @ UT, see a patient at a neuropsychology clinic once a week, and have experience in conducting psychotherapy (through my time in grad school for clin psych) as well as 4 years worth of clinical research experience in psychiatric populations. None of that was even considered solely based on this pre-review process. Again, I totally get it from their end, they can't review every application they get...but still BEYOND frustrating.

On a positive note, based on the response I received from Tracy, I believe this prereview is specific to the PMHNP track. Those who haven't heard back are having their applications reviewed, and will hopefully hear back relatively soon re: interviews :) Good luck to those who receive an interview! Wishing you all the best.
