UT AE-MSN 2019

Published

Hey everyone! I haven't seen a new thread for people applying to UT Austin's 2019 AE-MSN program, so I figured I'd start one :) I haven't had any correspondence from the school since submitting final material on October 1st. Anyone hear anything back from the school yet??

Hi All,

I too received the email re: not being considered for review. I inquired further, and Tracy is receptive to inquiries re: feedback if that is something you would like.

To provide a little more detail, they do a pre-review process as a means of triaging applications. They only review the top 40% of applicants solely based on your GPA/GRE scores. Those of us that were already contacted and offered LeaDs (rather than PMHNP) were not within the top 40% to be reviewed. Though I understand it systemically given the large # of apps they get and the few spots they have, but I share y'alls frustration in that all of our materials were not considered. My GRE was not my top priority because I wasn't aware of the aforementioned, so I prioritized my 3 prereqs and 2 labs they require rather than my GRE given the GRE, in large, will not be as applicable as the pre-reqs. I have a 7 month old daughter, work a full time clinical research position @ UT, see a patient at a neuropsychology clinic once a week, and have experience in conducting psychotherapy (through my time in grad school for clin psych) as well as 4 years worth of clinical research experience in psychiatric populations. None of that was even considered solely based on this pre-review process. Again, I totally get it from their end, they can't review every application they get...but still BEYOND frustrating.

On a positive note, based on the response I received from Tracy, I believe this prereview is specific to the PMHNP track. Those who haven't heard back are having their applications reviewed, and will hopefully hear back relatively soon re: interviews :) Good luck to those who receive an interview! Wishing you all the best.

Hi all! I also applied for summer 2019, for the PMHNP track. I haven't heard anything since I submitted my application. Fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone.

Wow, Good Insight, kdlongoria.

Am a lil disheartened about the 40% GRE/GPA vs all the rest of the work put in, but, it's good to know what they are basing it on. So, are you going ahead and doing the new SOP for LeaDs? And, do you know if we are even going to get an interview for LeaDs. Also, I wonder if they just didn't take people. Versus not being reviewed for PMHNP & offering to re-apply for LeaDs. What do you think our chances are now of being accepted?

Thanks!

Greetings all,

Anyone hear back from CNS, Geriatric?

Hello everyone,

I still haven't heard anything so I have just been completing the last of my pre requisites but I do believe according to other threads we will hear about interviews right after thanksgiving break or the first few days of December. It appears once they contact you they move quickly on the interview so I expect interviews to be middle of December. However, it doesn't appear our application year has heard anything about background checks yet and it sounds like other years they heard about them in the beginning or middle of November. I applied for PMHNP but it sounds like even if I do get an interview I still only have around a third of a chance to be selected so now that we are in the waiting process it feels very nerv racking. Is everyone here local to the area? I'm in Round Rock so I'm about 20-25 minutes away from campus with no traffic 3 hrs away with traffic hahaha jk (sort of). Hope we hear something soon!

It begins! I got an email today to do a fingerprinting appointment for background check. I applied for LeaDS.

Still haven't heard anything about an interview etc. though.

I am local as well. Took some prereqs at ACC RR campus. I'm pretty sure classes start so early that we won't have to worry about traffic!

@nurse_5 me too! No interview emails yet, but I did get the fingerprinting appointment for background check.

I also received the background check email and scheduled to get it done next week. Apparently it can take up to six months but I think it often only takes that long for international students who have applied. Hopefully we all hear something about interviews next week!!!

Hello everyone! I also applied to the progrAm but was redirected to the Leads. Do you all know if this is a good thing? I also received the invite for fingerprints, does this mean something? I've read in past post that it means progress!!!! I'm so worried .....

Hey all! I also got the finger print request yesterday! I applied to PMHNP and haven't heard anything else. Fingers crossed that we hear soon. Looks like these past couple years people have heard back on the 27th or 28th of November! I'm living about 10 minutes north from campus currently so hoping I will get an interview! Would be nice to stay in Austin!

210futurenurse I think everyone still being considered for interviews received the background check info so I'm taking it as a good sign because it means they are moving along with the process on a similar timeline from prior years. Hopefully we hear about interviews sometime next week. I am also nervous because now we are playing the waiting game to hear about it we are getting an interview and when they will be. Fingers crossed we hear sooner rather than later!!!

Hey everyone! I did my fingerprinting today and got an email from Tracy offering to schedule an interview!! I'm over the moon. I am applying to ABSN programs in Texas plus a few other direct entry MSN programs. This is the first application I have received any feedback from yet so I'm feeling really happy today.
