UT AE MSN 2015

Published

Hi all! I know this is a bit early, considering the application doesn't even go live until August 1, but UT is my number one school for Nursing. I just graduated from UGA with a BS in Psychology, and have around a 3.5 GPA. I have yet to take the GRE. I also am going to get a CNA certification and work for a year (hopefully in MedSurg) as well as shadow a family friend who is a Pediatric nurse. Many years before us have started a thread so I figured it would be a good idea to start one! I would really like to go into their Nurse Practitioner program, but as of right now there are some changes going on that said would be solidified in the fall.

Any feedback would be wonderful! As well as personal experience and what not!

That is my understanding.

Reading these updates has me on pins and needles! I haven't heard anything yet.

I think all of us that didn't get an NP spot have heard something....so I feel like maybe you got one of the spots! :)

Happy New Year y'all! All this talk of decisions has me anxious too! Has anyone heard anything about AG-CNS?

Hi all,

I'm applying to the CNS program and I only applied to UT because I only want to stay in Austin. Also I have a friend currently in the program and she said the first year 2 people dropped out of the psychNP so if you go leads there is always a chance you could transfer! I hate waiting....hope we find out soon! Has anyone in CNS who was interviewed been offered LEADS?

I haven't gotten any information about LEADS, and it seems that only those who applied to NP were offered a chance to change their cohort...based on what I've read here.

They probably just have not yet reviewed the CNS group. I know I've read in the past that they seem to review the applications for different cohorts at different times. I don't see why they wouldn't offer qualified CNS applicants the same opportunity.

I hope everyone's second interview went well! Just FYI - I was told that they have NOT already made decisions for the NP applicants and the reason for the second interview was actually to determine which program best fit our needs of what our ultimate goal of nursing is (so we are not out of the running for an NP spot). I thought it was going to be more of a short Q&A, but it was actually more of an interview. She said they purposely had someone interview us who had not reviewed our files whatsoever, so we went over everything; and it was almost an hour long!

Think I bombed the interview :no: How did y'all approach it? We are all set on NP and this is a broader degree but still necessary to get the NP. I don't know, I just feel it went horribly.

@Hashi,

Wait I'm confused, you think LEADs is an NP program?

I'm sure your interview went better than you think too!

I think mine went okay. I know that I sounded nervous on some of the questions. But in the beginning I was approaching mine being really excited about LeaDs (which I am and will be excited if I get a spot there); Then after she asked me a few questions finding out what I really wanted to do with nursing, she told me what the purpose of the 2nd interview was. So, I may have ruined my shot at NP...... who knows at this point. Hopefully we hear something back next week!

LeaDs isnt an NP program, but its only a year to get the NP after completing LeaDs rather than getting another MSN. So it kind of bridges the gap. I think that is what Hashi meant by that.
