Hi all! I know this is a bit early, considering the application doesn't even go live until August 1, but UT is my number one school for Nursing. I just graduated from UGA with a BS in Psychology, and have around a 3.5 GPA. I have yet to take the GRE. I also am going to get a CNA certification and work for a year (hopefully in MedSurg) as well as shadow a family friend who is a Pediatric nurse. Many years before us have started a thread so I figured it would be a good idea to start one! I would really like to go into their Nurse Practitioner program, but as of right now there are some changes going on that said would be solidified in the fall.
Any feedback would be wonderful! As well as personal experience and what not!
Me too, Kcast22! I probably need to stop trying to figure out all of this in my head and just wait patiently for the results.....but that's not working out so well. But what I'm thinking is if 22 were interviewed for NP and 8 got in, then that leaves 14 left that might get a spot in LeaDs. I think 26 were interviewed for CNS and if double the amount get in as NP, then that leaves 10 who might get a spot in LeaDs. SO, if 64 students are getting in total, and we're assuming that there are 40 spots for LeaDs, I actually think we may all have a great shot! Sorry to ramble.... :)
The applicants for the 10 available spots have more or less been accepted. So of the other 12-13 of us interviewed we are highly ranked. Mid January they will finalize the accepted and wait listed candidates and then notify us. As others have mentioned LeaDs is similar to the undeclared of past years. I have decided to go ahead and apply to LeaDs and see where I stand once candidates are finalized. At that point decide from the options available to me whether it is LeaDs or NP wait list.

Austintex: I see that statement in the second email and that sounds like she is referring to the leads program. In the first email I read this "
You also be on a wait list for the FPMHNP program" obviously a typo. Unfortunately a typo clouding some crucial information. My decision on accepting leads hinges on the wait list and where I stand on it. If it's worth it to wait a year. The second email also seems to imply no decisions on the NP wait list or admittance have been made.
