UT AE MSN 2015

Published

Hi all! I know this is a bit early, considering the application doesn't even go live until August 1, but UT is my number one school for Nursing. I just graduated from UGA with a BS in Psychology, and have around a 3.5 GPA. I have yet to take the GRE. I also am going to get a CNA certification and work for a year (hopefully in MedSurg) as well as shadow a family friend who is a Pediatric nurse. Many years before us have started a thread so I figured it would be a good idea to start one! I would really like to go into their Nurse Practitioner program, but as of right now there are some changes going on that said would be solidified in the fall.

Any feedback would be wonderful! As well as personal experience and what not!

I've also been accepted, LEADS... and new to the Austin area! I'm wondering if anyone has heard about or is interested in a forum where we can chat or meet up??

Hi! I just found this and I was admitted to the program (LEADS). Just requested to join your FB page! Thanks!

Wow! Has anyone looked at the prices for parking permits?! Holy cow! It looks like if we buy the annual "S" pass it's $600 and we would be guaranteed a spot, but if we buy the annual "C+" pass, it's only $180. However, you are not guaranteed a spot with that one and they may fill up super fast. I am torn between which pass to get. I don't want to be searching for parking every day, so I feel like the "S" would be better.....but dang that's expensive! Anyone else decided what they're doing yet?

If I end up carpooling with somebody, I will happily pitch in 50% of the cost of the S pass plus 50% of the gas; I feel like this would be "security" for a consistent and dependable ride. Anybody who is interested in doing this should feel free to hit me up!

Macaroni84 - have you decided where you will be living yet?

No, I haven't...though I may take up @PurpleReign on her offer to rent a room in Kyle for a few months, and in that case I suppose I would be carpooling with her. @AustinTex, which neighborhood are you in? I can't remember if you've said.

That's not a bad idea so you can have more time to look around for a place when you get here. I live in the Zilker neighborhood, right by Barton Springs pool.

@AustinTex, I've found that people in Austin look unfavorably at people from California moving in, and that nobody wants to live with a *stranger* from California...so maybe a few months in Kyle first will also help smooth that whole thing. I considered what you said about Zilker but I haven't found many ads on Craigslist for that area. I was thinking of getting a place near Lady Bird Lake but now I'm thinking that I'd prefer to meet people first, too.
