USF spring 2011 BSN

Published

Hey all.

Just thought I would start a thread for USF nursing program-BSN for spring 2011 to see when people start hearing back and what not! Wishing everyone luck!:)

Mine says 8 semesters too! Im going to talk to an advisor ASAP bc I wont have any classes to take next semester lol if this is the case! Im hoping for 6!

i think that is why they say pick a minor. For usf it is a little different for general education. you have to take a English class there, and take ethics, theology, cultural diversity, and service learning. so there are classes to take next semester. and also nursing in the Jesuit tradition and nursing as a professional I think.

And immunization wouln't keep you from registration. The date it opens for new undergrads in January 10th, wish it was sooner...dont they realize we need to get books as well! so 2more days till we can register.

A couple of questions where do we send the deposit for admissions online or by mail since they do not take any credit cards? Also when is transfer orientation the 22nd or the 20th? Is any body having trouble looking under student services for chEcking degree evualtions I can't seem to access it. dont forget to do the quiz on webtrack so you can register

I used a debit card I believe. And I remember I couldn't access the degree evaluation until I sent in the deposit. I believe it is the 20th, a Thursday. :-]

My dad dropped off a check; maybe you could mail it to the office of admissions?

Hey everyone,

I've been watching this thread for a while, and finally decided to sign up. I applied for the spring 2011 BSN program and still hadn't received anything in the mail by the end of this week so yesterday I emailed USF. I got an email back with my acceptance letter for the program attached to the email! They also told me my official package should be coming in the mail soon.

I'm really excited to be joining you guys, but I'm really lost since I haven't received my official packet yet. You were all just able to send in your official deposits online through the website? What have you all been doing for housing and such?

If you guys received important information about orientation/signing up for classes in your package that you could share that would be really helpful!

Thanks, and congrats to everyone

- Cailee

Hey dchow I don't think I will be taking anymore chances mailing in a check rather just do it with a debit card lol. And smarie thanks for the update.

Welcome aboard cailee glad to know I wasnt the only one that had to recieve there acceptance through email. I might just live in a dorm for one semester no time to find an apartment.

Hello everyone!

lol same with Cailee, have been reading this thread since the 1st post and finally decided to make an account. after the long and agonizing wait, i finally received the package and was accepted to start the clinical (sophomore) portion of the nursing program spring 2012. looking forward to seeing u guys on orientation day, planning to go on the january 20th. to give u guys a heads up, u have to have at least 1 unit for spring and fall semester of this year to hold your spot, so what im planning to do is take freshman nurse 120 (1 unit) in the spring and freshman nurse 170 (1 unit) + RHET 120 (4 units) in the fall. RHET 120 should be taken soon since u have to take it before starting your junior year, so u might as well get it out of the way to relieve stress on sophomore year. I have no idea what i am going to do about the living situation, but please contact me if anyone is interested in rooming. email- [email protected]

Congrats guys! Good to hear all the great news after such long waits! Cailee, I think a lot of people made their deposits online. There's a quiz on webtrack that you have to complete in order to register. the website it usfca.edu/webtrack . (Webtrack is just a tutorial that teaches you how to register) After making your deposit, you can do the Webtrack. After that, send in your immunization records (don't forget guys!) You can find this form by going to usfca.edu/hps and click on "Immunization Form" under "Quick Links", get that filled out by a medical professional.

Does anyone know if not having the immunization form sent, hold registration? :(

Lau_Josh, I'm also planning to take those classes, except I think I might be taking Rhet 250. I may also pick up something for my minor.

Good luck to all with the living situation, I'm a San Francisco resident, so if you guys ever need a tour guide, you know who to find (:

Hello to everyone accepted for Spring BSN program. Any idea about the tuition costs for a transfer like me? I mean for the whole year 2011? I"m totally not sure if I can afford USF. Any idea for tuition fees?

dchow,

Thank you for all of the helpful information! I really appreciate it. Did you guys use credit cards for those deposits? Because I'm checking out the site now, and credit cards are still an option, even though there is that note about the University not accepting credit cards?

For those who are applying for on-campus housing, did you make the $300 non-refundable deposit, even though we aren't guaranteed for housing?

Also, how do you guys know which classes we should be taking for these first two semesters?

Thanks guys!

Just as Lau_Josh said, we only need to take one unit per semester for the year 2011 in order to hold our space for the Nursing school. If you are taking less than 12 units (a part time student) it will be 800 something per unit. if you are taking 12-18 units, it will be $18,000 per semester (doesn't matter how many units, as long as its between 12-18), and I forgot how much it is for over 18 units. This is just tuition, not including housing, transportation and books. I know they offer a lot of financial aid, but the most they give out I believe is starting in the fall semester.

For the first two semesters, you should be taking NURS120 and NURS170 (these are prerequisites to the clinical courses) You will also need to take a Rhetoric and Composition course (log onto your Connect account to see which RHET course you are eligible for). The science courses (microbio, anatomy, physio. and psychology) should also be completed before clinical work.

and if you want, you can register for other courses or pick up a minor :)
