Hi fellow soon-to-be-hopefully nurses! I recently applied to USF's MSN-CNL for non-nurses. I am ecstatic about this program! Any fellow applicants in the anxiously waiting boat?!?
@madninjaskillz - I'm pretty much an EMT for the ER, but they call us ER techs. We work under the doctors and nurses and we assist them with anything they need!
I don't think I'm a shoe-in at all! My undergrad GPA was a 2.9 (granted I graduated 7 years ago, so it's not super recent), plus I still had Physiology in progress this spring (just finished a couple of weeks ago).
Is anyone sending their most recent transcript in, now that spring classes are done? I know they had said they only wanted to see final transcripts if you're accepted, but just curious what everyone else is doing?
Hi guys! I'm Also a student from cohort 2 and I heard from a friend there were some questions that you guys had; but looks like a member of my cohort already beat me to it! I'll give my two cents anyways.
Waiting always sucks, but you'll probably hear next week (almost there!). Some people called in and asked personally, but I got my application status changed on a Monday in early June and checked it that morning; got the envelope a week later. Those who got a call were mostly on the wait list and got in later; but that could go as far as beginning of August; weeks before start of school.
No dorms here; but a lot of us rent rooms or apartments. For price reference, I'm paying $600 for a single room (that's on the lower end of the price scale), shared bath in a house in Orange. Apartments will run much higher (I was in an apartment in Anaheim before, paid around $850 for a room in a 2bd 1ba).
Think of this program as a "start-up". It will have its pros and cons; but I honestly think it will go far. They've invested a lot into it too; our instructors are great and passionate and our clinical sites are awesome (although, because we are the "new kids in town" we get occasionally get the 12 hour night shifts.) This is a graduate program and has a lot less hand holding than undergrad; make friends in the cohort to go far (: (ie. carpools, study groups, remembering when your assignments are due...)
Anyways, chill this weekend, & have fun! Don't stress over it!
Hello everyone!
I also applied for this term. From previously applying at the USF SF Campus, this is how application statuses were updated there.
1) Accepted - You get a phone call and receive a packet a few days later.
2) Denied - You get an email that your status has changed and to check your application online. It will say denied.
3) Waitlisted - You do not get a phone call or email, you will get a letter envelope a few days later saying you are on the waitlist. Your application status online will stay as application - submitted to be reviewed after the deadline. Means you are still in the running!
Good luck to all of us :)
Hi @hritchie13! I think we might possibly hear back the end of this week? I think I received a letter for waitlist the Monday after people got calls. I've actually applied twice already to the USF SF Campus. I was rejected the first time and waitlisted the second time for summer 2017 cohort. I'm hoping that third time's the charm? haha. I never contacted them to ask why, but I've read from previous forums that people just need to improve personal statements, shorten resume to one page, and letters of rec? I also heard that they like a diverse group of people too i.e. some people may have a lot of healthcare experience some might not and you can't really determine how they select haha. Sorry that probably didn't help much lol
Also, I'm not sure if the OC Campus does things the same way!
