Hi fellow soon-to-be-hopefully nurses! I recently applied to USF's MSN-CNL for non-nurses. I am ecstatic about this program! Any fellow applicants in the anxiously waiting boat?!?
I believe my cohort started out with 27 and now we are down to 24. As far as my "stats" I had quite a bit of previous healthcare experience (EMT, CNA, volunteer experience, etc.). But, if it makes anyone feel any better, there are people in my cohort who had little to no previous healthcare experience.
Ah that's good to know, thanks!
I'm an EMT (first was employed for an ambulance company, now work at a hospital in the ER), tons of volunteer experience, tutor microbiology and physiology on the side through the CC I took my pre-reqs at, 4.0 in my pre-reqs, but only a 2.85 in my undergrad (7 years ago at USC).
Hoping the odds are in my favor!!
@hritchie13 I applied to UCLA's MECN program for Fall 2017 (big fat denial) and Concordia Irvine ABSN for Fall 2017 (they notify in August). Next year I'll try for UCFullerton's ABSN. Maybe Saddleback's ADN and then an RN-BSN bridge. How about you??
Isn't getting into nursing school the wildest ride... Past forums they also got phone calls. Did the admissions team member you spoke to on the phone mention anything about phone calls?
Hi!
I only applied to this program and MSMU's 1 year accelerated bachelor's program! I should hear from both of these programs within the next 3 weeks or so! I couldn't apply to anymore than these 2, as I have pre-reqs in progress and these 2 schools allow them to be in progress when you apply.
If I don't get in to either of the two schools, then I'll re-apply for both, as well as try for UCLA MECN, Cal State LA, maybe Cal Baptist or Concordia Irvine?
I am a guy and I know nursing really wants more guys in the field, so I'm hoping that helps me out in some way....? I got my business degree from USC, certified EMT (worked for an ambulance company for a year and now work in the ER of a hospital), do volunteer work on the side, tutor microbiology at the CC I'm taking my pre-reqs, 4.0 in my pre-reqs, (but my undergrad GPA was only a 2.9).
So I'm hoping for the best!

Awesome, thanks for all of the advice!
How many people are in your program? And also, would you mind sharing your stats in regards to when you were applying? Did you have a lot of hands on healthcare experience?
Thank you so much!!
