Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?
Unfortunately they don't tell you your number on the waitlist. I went through this last cycle, they won't tell you how many people or your number. It sucks because you have no idea where you stand. That's so weird that they made calls on Tuesday during spring break. That makes sense, I guess we may know more on Monday!
I received a letter yesterday dated the 15th about being on the waitlist. It says they expect replies from admitted students by the week of April 3rd and hope to get back about the applications at the end of that week. They also can't tell us what number/rank we are on the waitlist. At least I heard something!
@Cleo what region are you in? I haven't received anything yet and I'm in the east bay! Ya that's exactly what the letter said last round. Then ingrid started emailing us with updates every once in awhile. Stay hopeful, there were multiple people on here saying they weren't going to accept the offer!
i have not received anything in the mail, just an email this morning directing me to a change in application status and the enrollment form. with at least some people declining offers, though, i'm sure people will start hearing things soon enough.
i was thinking about the waitlist and USF's desire to maintain a diverse class, and i'm guessing maybe that's why they don't disclose positions on the waitlist - maybe there is no "queue," per se. perhaps offers to people on the waitlist are contingent on or influenced specifically by who accepts and who declines seats. if that's the case, maybe they will end up waiting until people have not only accepted seats, but paid deposits before they continue the admissions process. as i have not received anything in the mail yet, i have no idea on deadlines for the process, but i'll let you all know. maybe that'll give a better indication as to when they'll continue making calls.
I haven't gotten anything in the mail either but the mail hasn't come yet today! Ya @gabe I think you're on to something there. Last semester too I thought that they could pick from the waitlist based on the specific people who decline their spots. It may be all part of their plan in choosing a cohort that is diverse and who will work well together. If we don't get letters in the mail today about waitlist, it could be possible that they are still doing the admission process, but weird that one person received waitlist notification. How could they still be deciding if they've already made a waitlist? My guess is that all the decisions are probabaly all made, but maybe it's taking them longer to notify people because of spring break?
