USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2017

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

Thanks, Jess. I am trying to make the accepted students day at the end of this month but last minute tickets are killer expensive. I am actually from the DC area. Funny thing is, I have a larger support system out there, indirectly, then I do out here. All of my family is east coast. But my husband is here. We'll see how it all plays out.

@aposse thanks for the tips! I'm going to stick with interpersonal comm. at CCSF, I heard great things about the professor as well! I've gotten lucky with my registration times since I've taken classes there since high school. John Hopkins sounds great! I can't imagine having to uproot your life with your husband here, but at least you do have your family/support in DC!

I appreciate all of the support throughout this thread. I never thought it'd be so great to have you guys to go through this process together!

@Swerch; I JUST registered for the HESI this morning and I'm going to take it on Saturday. SUPER last minute and I'm cramming my studying but everything's just review at this point. It's the A&P part that I have to focus on the most. You can probably still make the April 1st deadline.

Good luck to those of you taking the hesi. For me, I studied for 3 weeks light weight and then the 4 days before the exam I crammed. Get the hesi book from Elsvier that they offer because it is from the makers of the test and is very good. The only thing I needed to supplement was A&P, so I did do extra studying from another book for that section outside of the study guide. The thing with the A&P is that rather than it being broad questions, a lot of them are specific, which requires you to have a deep understanding of the material. I scored 94ish in every section. I promise it's not that bad at all. Let me know if you guys have specific questions that I can answer about the hesi. I'm currently taking interpersonal communication and lifespan psych before I head to Samuel Merritt in the fall. The classes are actually really interesting and I am enjoying them!!

I was shocked that I didn't receive waitlist letter in mail today. Last semester I got it 2 business days after the calls went out.

is it possible maybe they haven't finalized their decisions on the entire cohort...? they are still in the 8-10wk window. i guess there is no way of knowing how many calls they put out the other day.

Ya I think that is possible, it's just not how they did things last semester. But I feel like they're always changing things if you look on past threads. So I think it is for sure possible!

right. from past threads i read, i was expecting a change of status sometime the day before calls went out. that didn't happen. i checked every few minutes until around 11am or so the other day with no status change. yes...it was every few minutes... :p

eventually, i stopped checking because i assumed nothing was happening. BAM!!!

i guess we might know better if waitlist letters start arriving. i have not received anything yet. i was so thrown off by the call that i didn't catch whether they mailed my letter monday or tuesday.

Good luck! You'll do great!!! I need to wait for the next date though unfortunately. My classes will just be getting done in the end of summer. It's just cutting it super close. Let me know how the testing goes! Hopefully I get my HESI book in the mail next week ;), then study and wine time for me!

Still no waitlist letter. Super weird!! Now I am wondering if they are doing it like they did in the past and waiting for people to accept or deny the offer and the keep accepting people down the list. I guess time will tell!

I tried calling them a few times today to find out if I'm waitlisted and whether they would tell me where on the waitlist I am, but it just goes straight to voicemail. No clue what's going on over there.

Went to the campus just now to inquire because I was in the area visiting a friend, but the nursing building is closed. Found out they're on spring break right now, which might explain why the'yre not picking up.
