USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2017

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

They actually didn't say in the email but I'm assuming it's Oakland since that was my top pick. But the email was wrong in the start date. It said students could be accepted from the waitlist anytime up until the start if classes in September. I don't think the application period for September has even closed yet. I'm going to call on Monday to clarify.

I'm just really anxious about decisions for USF. That's the program I want the most.

I really hope you get into USF!!! It's good to have back ups though!!! You'll probabaly get off the waitlist, #4 is a super good position to be in! Super nice that they actually tell you your number too!!

Just seeing this thread bc I had originally applied to usf but had to withdraw. Anyway I got into SMU ABSN for April and had to release my spot for a medical reason, so hopefully that spot will go to someone on the waitlist. I will go next year instead and can't WAIT. Hope someone here gets to use my spot!

@Natalie I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope all is we'll and wish you the best of luck next year.

@Natalie hope you're ok now!! Were you able to just defer your spot until next year? That's super nice of them and glad that it worked out for you that way! Congrats on getting accepted!

How are you all feeling about possibly hearing back this coming week? Man I remember that feeling last cycle. I could barely concentrate on a thing. The nerves were crazzzzzzzzzzy! Take each day at a time and try to stay as busy as possible!

@aftonheistand How were the Pathophysiology and Pharmacology classes through Samuel Merritt? I didn't get into USF so I am going to apply to SMU ABSN Fall 2017 cohort but I still need these classes.

@jozefnsf I took pharmacology and pathophysiology online with Santa Barbara City College. Really good professors and a lot cheaper than Samuel Merritt. SBCC is on SMU's approved list.

@joze I actually didn't end up taking patho or pharm yet. I was going to apply to the absn but then I didn't because I realized I had maxed out on federal aid for a bachelors degree with my last one so I wouldn't have enough financial aid to help pay. With the ELMSN program at SMU we didn't need to take patho and pharm before the start because we will take it first semester. I'd recommend taking the classes through one of their approved schools on their website because honestly they are really expensive through SMU and the absn program already will be something like 75K if I remember correctly so no need to waste more money. Good luck!!! I'm sorry about usf when did you hear from them?

@joze if you're applying to the absn you should apply to the MSN as well! Since you'll already need to take the hesi you minds well broaden your chances! They have a cohort entering in spring 2018 in sac! Good to keep in mind while you're preparing to apply to absn!

I highly recommend pharmacology thru Santa Rosa jc online. Very easy to get an A and you can learn a lot if you want to put in the time to do so.

Thanks, Natalie. It doesn't look like SRJC offers it during the Summer term, only Spring (already in progress) and Fall.

@aftonheistand I heard from USF around Mid Feb. I had a couple courses in-progress so I'm sure I was cut in the early rounds. It is too bad there are so many applicants and too few spots each year.
