*For University of San Francisco's Entry MSN program due Sept 1, starting in Spring*

I wanted to start a thread to talk about thoughts, updates on the app process, decisions, etc. I should be submitting my application in a week or so once I finish the essays!

Good luck to us all!

I just found out I was waitlisted for the OC campus.

I’m going with my first choice of Rush University and will be giving up my waitlist spot. I hope this helps someone in their endeavors!

Best of luck everyone!

Hey Jaime,

I graduate summa cum with my BA in Psych. Worked as a research assistant for a psych lab. I went to a handful of outreach programs for graduate schools like Inside UCSF. Did a couple months of volunteer work at my local hospital in the oncology unit before covid then I switched over to full time as a front desk associate at an urgent care in LA. I worked as a producer and translator on a documentary film on human rights in Argentina for several months. I nannied for a child with asperger's syndrome for over 3 years. I was honestly very surprised to be accepted given I don't have much volunteer experience but I worked really hard on my personal statements this cycle. I think it really makes a difference.

Good luck everyone. I am 29, I've been in and out school since 2010. Please don't give up! There is a huge need for people like us!

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on this forum but congrats to everyone who got accepted to both campuses and good luck to those who are waitlisted and still waiting on decisions! I got accepted to the SF main campus last week but just decided to decline the offer of admission today so hopefully this helps push someone else onto the admitted list! Good luck everyone :)))

Hello there!  I was wondering, if you don't mind, why you decided to go to another school?  I am asking because I am in the decision process as well.  Any information you may have would be helpful and appreciated!

hi hi! I haven't decided which school I'm going to yet but I did get another offer from another school I applied to, and it was one of my top three. I am still waiting on a few other schools that I wanted to go to much more than  USF as well. Another reason was because I didn't realize that the program start was January haha. I come from a quarter system school so Spring 2021 meant march/April to me, not January, so I'm just not mentally prepared to go back to school yet. The main reason I declined was because I'm actually looking for a master's nursing program that will allow me to be a NP (USF is for CNL), but I applied to USF because I applied here before for undergrad and also as a backup if I did not get into the NP Program I wanted. Hope this was sorta helpful ?

Ah, I see.  Thats fantastic you got into one of your top three!  CONGRATS!

Are you referring to programs with the option to enrolling in an NP Program after you receive your licensure, or NP Program that is included?  I know of a few Master's Entry Level + NP programs but they are all 3 year programs that begin in the fall (but only one in the Bay Area being UCSF).

In any case, good luck on your other two schools!

Thank you! Now just have to wait on financial aid packages and other school decisions ?

Yeah so a few of the programs I applied to were just a MSN to get a CNL certification but my top choices were the ones that were Master's Entry (prelicensure) + APRN (NP) together. So the NP specialty admittance is dependent on successful completion of the prelicensure part of the program but it is technically included! UCSF is one of the one's I applied and is part of my top three and I am waiting on that school, but I applied to a few others as well and they are all around 2.5-3 year programs.

Are you waiting on a few other schools as well, before making your decision? Good luck to you too ?

Sure! This is my first time applying to USF and I am 24 ?

Last 60 GPA: 3.5

Overall GPA: 3.3

Pre-req GPA: 3.8

I graduated with a BS in Biology with an emphasis in Physiology. I have over 3,000+ hours of health care experience as an emergency room scribe and an urgent care medical assistant. Additionally, I volunteered in my community at a local soup kitchen (~100 hours). I didn't do too well in some semesters, but I did explain it in my personal statement. If you have a low GPA like I do, I believe in you! I worked really hard postgrad and received all A's in my pre-reqs! If I can do it, you can too! Overall, I talked about my experiences working in healthcare and what I could bring to the table as a nurse. ? I have strong LORs from a Biology professor and a MD that I've worked closely with. I am also BLS certified! I believe all these things has made me competitive. But don't give up! ? Good luck to everyone reapplying & those on the waitlist! I know you can do it!
