USF BSN & ABSN Hopefuls Summer 2015

Published

I know I am jumping on this topic early but is anyone else excited about the upcoming ability to apply to USF? Lets get to know each other! Share a little about yourself. We can also talk about the application process, writing sample, gpa, facts/things you have heard, concerns/thoughts, other schools your applying, ect.

Lets get a conversation going! Go bulls!!

I'm afraid that I won't get accepted to fiu either because my GPA isn't that great :/ and my volunteer hours didn't meet the minimum so I'm really freaking out >.

I did my internship at FIU for undergrad and spoke to several people in the program. Basically, if you have a 3.50+ GPA, you're in.

Oh really? Well that gave me hopes then thank you! I'm just hoping I get accepted somewhere >.

@ArashiExo

Are you applying for accelerated or regular? Also have you looked into other Universities in state?

The regular. And I'm just applying to FIU, USF and Nova

Those are all great schools. Nova's program runs a little longer (it's about 2.5 years) but you accumulate a lot of clinical hours. Go for it! Don't let anyone, even yourself, stop you from pursuing your goals and applying to these programs/schools.

Go meet with the nursing advisor at FIU. You can call and schedule an appointment with them. They'll go over your transcripts/prerequisites and see where you go from there. Good luck to you!

Does anyone know whether USF's clinical rotations truly involve 13-hour shifts?

Yeah. Some rotations in ER may require that since a standard shift is like 12 hrs in ER.

Does anyone know whether USF's clinical rotations truly involve 13-hour shifts?

Not until your final semester. That's when you do 12 hour shift..maybe 13 if you're staying late to chart or whatever. I'm currently in 3rd semester and we are there 6:30 to 4:30 and that's including pre and post conference

I found an article where HCC and USF have an agreement, where a student at HCC can earn their BSN on online at USF simultaneously. I've been accepted at HCC nursing program, and doubt my chances at USF. Anyone happen to know anything about this agreement?

@todd1977

Got some insight on this for you (my husband is in his 3rd semester of the nursing program at HCC)...

Apparently this was a pilot program HCC/USF tried last semester and it failed miserably. Basically it allowed HCC nursing students to enroll into USF nursing classes ON TOP of their current HCC nursing program course load. Silly because most were challenged enough with the HCC nursing program course load in the first place.
