USF Accelerated BSN Fall 2015!

Published

Hello!

I am applying for the Fall 2015 smester in the Second Degree sequence and I wanted to see who is out there that can give me some advice or commiserate!

I am so nervous about my essay... Their instructions are slightly vague and I am unsure of how to capture their attention and convey my passion for nursing.

Do you think I will get in with 2 years CNA experience as a school "nurse" and a 3.6 pre-req GPA?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Hey guys I got off the alternate list! What are you wearing tomorrow? I know that's silly but I'm nervous about being over dressed or under dressed. I'm thinking black dress pants and flowy top with heels.

Perfect thank you! I can't wait either!

How was the orientation?

I am at TGH for accelerated

Has anyone received info on purchasing project nurse or safe Medicate?

also according to our orientation packet about purchasing "unbound medicine" it says it should cost about $175... However when I put all the titles in my cart it totals $286. Is this right?

The Unbound Medicine (Nursing Central) has to be purchased through the college book store otherwise if you go through the website you will be missing some of the additional programs that are given to only USF students. SafeMedicate & Project Nurse can be purchased at a later date; those 2 programs have assignments that need to be completed 3 weeks prior to the semester ending. Just remember that when you purchase the programs make sure you put in that it is for USF if required. As far as the school is concerned, the ATI is the program that is really important, the better you do on ATI, the higher the extra credit you will receive on cumulative Fundamentals final and that made a difference for many students.

Hey guys, I'm starting the process of applying to the summer 2016 term as a second degree. Any extra advice about applying? Also how are all of you doing so far? Thanks in advance for any information!

Hello Taybray, the one piece of advice I can give you is regardless of your GPA whether superb or mediocre the essay plays a significant role in being accepted. Therefore, try to get multiple opinions on your essay in order to submit the best paper possible.

Tay,

MEDIC is right! The only aspect of your application that you can control is your essay and it shows the judges who you are and whether or not you are motivated enough to endure the program. My personal advice is to not only share what experiences you have that set you apart, but also what you gained from them and how it applies to making you a better nurse. Remain objective and don't fluff, if that makes sense.

I started in the Fall and so far it has been great. Very challenging, but so worth it. Coping with stress is a great skill to have throughout this program, because check offs are a bear!

Best of luck :)

USF has changed the admission process....the essay is being replaced with an interview as of this admission cycle. Also they are transitioning to admitting only one upper division and one second degree cohort per year. For 2016, there will be a summer and fall upper division cohort and starting in 2017 only a fall upper division cohort. In 2016, there will be a only a summer second degree cohort. Beginning in 2017, second degree students will only be admitted in the spring. See the USF nursing admission web page for the specific on all the changes.
