This is a "sticky" from the nursing student forum. Many sites are useful for pre-nursing, too. If you find one you like, add it.

Anatomy & Physiology courses at HFCC

An excellant site developed by my current A&P instructor Dr. Edwin Krol

Passwords needed for the site are found under "passwords." Don't forget to use the period between the word and number or it will not work.

does anyone know where i can go on the net to study for the foundations part of the nln? i have searched and searched and everything costs a fortune--i am broke, so i need something cheap, or even free. i would love to know if there are any practice tests out there for it. thanks for any help anyone can give me.

I have to take the HESI A2 Exam next week. How is it??

I'm so glad to see that most of the threads are from women and men within the same age group as myself, age 35. I really enjoy the support that allnurses gives. Good luck and God Bless everyone to continue on, WE can do it! Bernie

Thank you so much for this web-site. I will be taking A&P II this fall, and I will use it.:saint:

Great site and great thread,

I am one week into (6 week) microbiology and so far so good. One bit of bit of advice that has helped me, is to get some student feed back on a teacher before taking a class. You can bust your butt and still not do well in a class if the instructor is not teaching/grading your style. Myspace has a good teacher rating feature that allows you to look up teachers by school, and there are other sites out there. Another way is to find students at your school with similar learning styles and exchange info about instructors. If you can avoid obvious problems before they happen you and your GPA will be better off.

Take care, and best of luck to all

i don't know if this website has been posted on this thread yet, but if you need to check out a teacher before signing up for the class go to ratemyprofesor.com and find the teacher in question and get feedback and ratings form students (this website is very helpful)

Thanks everyone for posting cool sites... I sure they will be a big help in the near future...

Good luck everybody. Is anybody taking A&P II and if so, any suggestions

there are two care plan constructor sites on the internet. they are both companion websites to books that are currently on the market. they only have limited information from their books and the sites are primarily to format and print out a care plan. no constructor site is going to provide you with a complete care plan since any care plan is unique and must be customized to the needs of the patient.

there is care plan information on the nursing student assistance forum in this sticky thread: https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/desperately-need-help-careplans-170689.html - desperately need help with careplans. and, on the general nursing student discussion forum in this sticky thread: https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/careplans-help-please-r-t-aeb-121128-7.html - careplans help please! (with the r\t and aeb).

it is very unlikely that you are going to find a care plan for gestational diabetes in most careplan books since this is an ob related problem. maternal/newborn plans of care: guidelines for individualizing care by marilynn e. doenges and mary frances moorhouse does address this issue in their book of care plans. i would be happy to share the information i have on this with you. however, i must advise you that the writing of a care plan is based upon your patient's assessment information and not upon their medical diagnosis. this is all explained in the "desperately need help with careplans" thread that i gave you a link to above.

you would be looking for these symptoms in a patient with gestational dm:

  • edema
  • hypertension
  • utis
  • nausea and vomiting
  • obesity
  • polydipsia and/or polyphagia
  • hypoglycemia
  • glycosuria
  • signs or symptoms of ketoacidosis
  • a baby that is large for gestational age

the nursing diagnoses are then determined from the patients symptoms. all goals and nursing interventions are based upon the patient's symptoms.

i will help you with this care plan if you pm me or post a thread in the nursing student assistance forum (https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/). i do not usually check the posts in this forum.
