Hi,

Does anyone know of any good websites to find cheap used textbooks?

I've already looked at Half.com and they are cheap when you buy old versions but not new ones.

Thanks,

Most of the cheap textbooks will be the older editions. I'm just starting my nursing classes & we were told that we'll be using the same books we bought this semester throughout the entire program. So I don't think many people sell their used textbooks right away-----unless they are kicked out of the program or something.

Here is a web site that will compare the prices......

Does amazon have anything? I think I heard someone say they got some there.........might be worth looking into. I bought and sold some of mine at the school I was going to. There was a bboard at the student union and near the bookstore with students selling books.

Did you try that?

That website is very cool, gets right to the point...

I'll try the bulletin board thing too, but I go to a small school so it's harder to find what you're looking for.

muchas gracias

do your books have to be new? i know you have to have the required text listed by your school but do you have to have a brand new book?

i've bought the books that i've needed used from amazon and have had great success and saved hundreds of $$ in the process.

BIGWORDS.com is a great site because it compares numerous sites for you...new and used books can be found...what the editions though don't want to buy the wrong one.

I just listed a couple of soc books on amazon. That is where I origonally purchased them. You can search by ISBN. I got a good deal on these books and I hope to make the money back to use for next semester books...

also try search this forum under "books" We have had this discussion a few times so you will be able to get all of the other links.

Best wishes,

I have found for the most part that the new text a pretty close in prices. What you tend to get the deal on is no shipping and no taxes. That can save you a great deal off the cost of the books. Good luck in your search. Oh I almost forgot. Try looking at the publishers web site as well. Sometimes you can get a deal that way but be careful. One publisher charged more for their book than amazon.

Allbookstores.com lets you search a bunch of bookstores at once. I have bought the majority of my books used and have saved a lot of money!

I have purchased some older editions of the required textbooks and have found them to be very similar in content. This hasn't had any impact on my grades yet as the reading assignments are a supplement to our lecture notes. An edition that is one year older probably won't matter much when studying, for example, a disease process. This has saved me 100's of $$$. Good luck! :)

I just wanted to say thanks this thread has been most helpful:)
