Hello all,

I've been cruising this forum for some time now and wanted to start up a USAGPAN 2020 application thread. Who else is applying for FY2020 or thinking about applying? Best of luck to everyone!!! I know the application with Baylor barely opened (Feb 1st) I'm pending my GRE and CCRN. I have 2.5 years ICU the last year being at a level one trauma center in Los Angeles. I Already passed MEPS (what a relief and different experience) and am now getting my LORs in order.

Cheers to all....lets make this happen!!!

I did well on the gre, 315, 3.5. My downfall was my GPA from years ago long before I ever started my bsn. Right out of HS , 25 years ago I signed up for school but never really went so I have very poor grades from back then. My mistake was not addressing that in my essay. I had a 4.0 in my sciences and one year of grad school with a 3. 7, for FNP. Overall GPA ended up being 3.4 because of those earlier grades. I wasn't aware they would use those since they didn't get applied to my BSN. live and learn!

Wow Bryan! your qualifications are amazing...Now im starting to lose hope, hahaha! Im sure you'll do fine next year. If I dont make it, I wont try again. Just because I dont want no more challenges hahaha.

Accepted by Baylor! SO pumped. Now we wait for army boards... Good luck to all who are applying

Awesome!! Congratulations! Me too! anyone else ?

Congratulations guys! Been following this thread and more like it because this is the path I am looking to pursue. Care to share your stats?

Hi everyone! I have been scouring this forum to see if anyone has posted the approximate timelines for each step? Such as when you applied for direct accession and submitted packet, applied to Baylor, scheduled and had interview/shadow. I am looking at all of the information to possibly start the application process for 2021 or 2022 but the dates on the website don't make the most sense. I have not started talking to a recruiter but plan to in the coming months (I am currently in process of losing weight after having my most recent baby).

My plans are as follows:

  • I accepted a position in the CVICU/MICU and start on the 27th of October (next schedule cycle).
  • GRE in February 2020
  • OCHEM in March-June (no schools in my area offer Biochem and I can't find a course online)
  • Start the direct accession packet in summer 2020
  • Apply to Baylor in February 2021
  • September 2021 find out if I get chosen for Baylor
  • February the next year attend DCC and then BOLC
  • June start CRNA school

Does this sound right, do I need to modify anything? Those of you that have already completed the process can you give insight as to what to expect, timeframes and all of that? I am too late to apply for the 2021 start right or how could I modify this to apply for 2021?

I appreciate your input greatly, thank you everyone!!

Tridel,

You can most likely modify that schedule for 2021. I started everything for the 2020 application (baylor/army direct accession applications, scheduled and took the GRE, MEPS) in January of 2019. If you start soon and get ORGO completed you can almost definitely apply for the 2021 cohort. Reach out to a recruiter sooner than later and they will get you started and give you a good timeline. Only thing I can see potentially being a problem is not having the full year of ICU experience BUT you will have completed that by the time school starts so that shouldn't be a problem. Good luck

Thank you! That is reassuring. I plan to apply without CCRN and without the 2 year preferred time in ICU (knowing that I will likely not get in). I am not afraid of applying twice when I do have the required even though if I were to get in I would have them by matriculation.

Again Pizzabox2 thank you!

How did your application process go, most specifically the accession packet? Did you get into Baylor?

I'm not gonna tell you not to apply until your ready, but you should know the application process is very long. It's going to take a lot of your time and also money from you over several months and it would suck if you had to do it more than once. So maybe think twice about applying until you're truly ready to apply.

I went through the process for the VA as opposed to the Army, but the deadlines are the same, the only difference is we don't have to attend Phase II interviews or go through the MEPS/Recruiter process. I can tell you though that I was able to attend an O-Chem course through the University of New England Online. It is expensive, but self paced and fully accepted by the USAGPAN program. You can take it with or without the lab, but the lab portion is not required. Good luck!

I will have to check out University of New England, thank you! I have been having trouble finding a class online. Oregon doesn't have many online classes for sciences unfortunately.
