Hello all,

I've been cruising this forum for some time now and wanted to start up a USAGPAN 2020 application thread. Who else is applying for FY2020 or thinking about applying? Best of luck to everyone!!! I know the application with Baylor barely opened (Feb 1st) I'm pending my GRE and CCRN. I have 2.5 years ICU the last year being at a level one trauma center in Los Angeles. I Already passed MEPS (what a relief and different experience) and am now getting my LORs in order.

Cheers to all....lets make this happen!!!

I was notified today by the VA that I was not selected for the upcoming year, so I would assume that those who have been chosen to move forward should hear soon! Good luck!

Still has not heard from them, I hope they have not forget about my packet, or hopefully its a good thing.

I would take it as a good thing, I believe they notified everyone who did not make the first cut. I was able to talk to Dr. Craig, the liaison, and he went through my packet with me to figure out how I can strengthen it for next year.

Well I dont want to expect, lol. But that's a good thing you will be able to know where you need to work on. Goodluck for next year.

According to the email from Mrs. Johns at Baylor:

VA APPLICANTS:

The VA has completed their selection process for the applicants they will fund for the 2020 Cohort (and Dr. Reedy’s office has already sent out notification on that topic). At this time, a Baylor offer of admission is all that you need to enter the USAGPAN @ Baylor program (only those selected for funding by the VA AND admission to Baylor, will receive an offer of admission to USAGPAN @ Baylor). Please contact your local VA’s EISP or USAGPAN / VA Liaison officer, Dr. Craig ([email protected]) with any VA related questions.

I would check any email address that might be associated with your packet because that is strange you didn't hear anything from them. They have already completed their interviews and selection. Did you send your completed packet directly to Dr. Reedy? One way or another everyone will have their answer no later than September 12. I'm guessing the final board will be meeting on the 10th, and then they will be sending everything out via the Baylor portal.

I only used my VA email and even went through my trash thinking that I might have accidentally deleted one from Dr. Reedy. But there's really none. I will give it another couple of days, if I dont receive one, then I will do a follow up, cause I dont wanna sound that Im rushing them. How did you know that VA completed the interview already? It was not mention on Ms. Jana's email that VA did the interview already. Maybe for the Army yes they did. But if so, then Im so late to know anything. I have constant communication with Dr. Reedy. The last email I received from her was around last week of July. So I may wait couple of days before following up.

I don't think interviews have been completed, but I do know in the past they have accepted people without ever doing an interview. I think though based on my own experience they have only notified those who were not selected, there may be a smaller group that made the first cut and they will continue to narrow the field.

I could be wrong, but I thought that's what Mrs. Johns said when I spoke with her a while ago. I believe she said that after the VA conducts their interviews they would pass their selection onto the final board to review, and that seems to be the stage they're at now. I know the two are separate (Baylor & VA), so it may have happened differently.

thats what Im thinking too, maybe im included on the list that they will continue to narrow down, hahaha. Either way, Its a good experience, I learned a lot especially from this stressful english topic on GRE, I hate it. English is my second language and essay was really hard for me but was able to make it though...hahaha.

I did well on the gre, 315, 3.5. My downfall was my GPA from years ago long before I ever started my bsn. Right out of HS , 25 years ago I signed up for school but never really went so I have very poor grades from back then. My mistake was not addressing that in my essay. I had a 4.0 in my sciences and one year of grad school with a 3. 7, for FNP. Overall GPA ended up being 3.4 because of those earlier grades. I wasn't aware they would use those since they didn't get applied to my BSN. live and learn!
