USA Scholarship Services

Published

I got a letter in the mail from "USA Scholarship Services" in Washington, DC. They say that for a $25 fee, I will be guaranteed at least $1000 in scholarship monies, or my money back. Sounds a little too good to be true...has anyone heard of this company or used the service? Thanks!

Hi,

I have never heard of this company, but guarantee....at least $1000...and the fact that they charge for their services are sounding off alarms that this is a scam. Be careful.

I've heard that a lot of those are scams. You send them your money, and basically you get a list, the same stuff you can get off the internet or at your library, of national scholarships available and how to apply. Plus many tend to be out of date. I think most scholarships for the upcoming fall semester have had their deadlines pass (unless they are specific ones to your area).

I say to save your money and see the Financial Aid office at your school. They are the very best sources of information on scholarships in your area. Your local library may have information also.

Good luck!

I think it is a scam. But I could be wrong but if they are giving money away why are they asking for yours. I would send it back with a note saying "Take the $25 out of my scholarship money ":chuckle

DON'T spend one red cent for scholarships!!!!

See your school financial aid dept. Also try using fastweb.com for scholarships. One of my instructors actually recommended it to me. She had gotten two rather large scholarships from them. Good luck. Berta

I got something from them in the mail too, I tried finding infomation on them on the internet by typing in the guy's name who signed the letter, the address, etc, and came up w/ zippo...tossed it in the garbage...I figure if it was legit I'd be able to find some info on the internet. Then again, I did think that if it WASN'T legit I should see something about it along the lines of "Beware of scholarship scams" or "companies not to trust" or something, but I didn't feel like taking any chances. :p

SCAM! Anyone asking for money seems pretty suspicious. . . .

THROW that envelope away. These companies are notorious for being deceptive. Just fill out your FAFSA and start from there.

wow.. the only place that had info on "USA Scholarship Services" was this forum.. figures.. how the heck did they get our names anyways??? Guess I'm throwing this out... It's asking to write a $27 check for "USA" ... SCAM!!!

Hello. I just received the same letter today myself asking for a $27 fee and that if I do not get a shcolarship, I "may" be entitled to a refund of the $27 processing fee. I really appreciate the comments posted here. This letter is going in the recycling bin a.s.a.p. Plus, the letter still states that the scholarship is for 2008, which is too late by now I'm convinced.

I recieved this same exact letter in the mail today. I checked them out on the BBB website and they are listed as a Scholarship "Sales" co. Who sells scholarships? They had 9 complaints in the past three year years. I'm throwing it away, I'm glad I found this information on here. AWESOME!
