USA DNP - anyone applying for fall 2015?

Published

Am starting this thread to see how many of us are applying to the USA DNP program in fall 2015. I will be graduating from Georgetown University in August and plan to proceed to DNP right away. My FNP program is very well organized and am very well prepared to be an FNP. I already have a couple of job offers, and I credit my program for the offers. I would have loved to go to another top tier school for my DNP but the the student loans are humongous and as I mentioned earlier, I feel well prepared for the workforce. USA is almost free for me considering the 10s of thousands that I pay at GU. I still highly recommend the GU program. Back to USA DNP, who is applying? Am sending out my application this week. For anyone looking into it, the deadline for fall 2015 is feb 15th.

Here is the FB page:

Has anyone who turned in their packet received their student id info yet?

I haven't. I received the email stating my packet was received and marked complete, but nothing from the actual admissions office. I already have a JAG email and ID, so I have been checking for updates to my information, but still nothing.

Tam tam I thought you were doing the dnp?

I am. I am still waiting on the letter from admissions saying I have been officially admitted to the school. I assume I will get one even though I got one for the MSN program. I am still waiting on my class schedule also.

That letter will be here prob end of June. I don't think you would have any reason to be concerned. You've already been accepted. If you got everything in on time then you should be fine. :)

Hi there. Trying to resurrect this old post a bit. For those that are enrolled at USA, how do you like it? I have heard variable reviews about USA.....one concern from a past student was virtually zero feedback after submitting papers, taking tests, projects, etc. Is this true? I would not learn from this method. Also, what is your feeling about the quality of the education at USA and your program so far? Thank you in advance!

I am trying to apply to Georgetown University's program in the fall of 2016. However, I am very worried about practicum or clinical placement. Does the school help with this? How has your student loans been and your job prospects after you graduated? Please let know. I have so many questions. Thank you.

Can someone please explain what a nursingcas is? I keep seeing that term pop up. Also what is the supplemental application?

NursingCAS is a service that some schools use. Applicants then apply via nursingCAS' website to these schools. NursingCAS evaluates transcripts, calculates your GPA & sends your application to schools that you have applied to. Supplemental application is another application that school's make you complete. Hope that helps.

Aiko,

Please search Georgetown in the forums...there is a wealth of information. You can begin with this link

To answer your questions

1. The school arranges clinical placements for students

2. Am waiting for my license, just finished school last month and passed boards right away before school was officially over. I have received several job offers so far.

Nursing girl28, BSN did you have trouble finding preceptors? I'm applying to USA FNP summer program and I too live in Austin. Do you have any recommendations for preceptors? Thanks in advance!
