  1. Aiko, Please search Georgetown in the forums...there is a wealth of information. You can begin with this link https://allnurses.com/student-nurse-practitioner/so-which-school-886033.html#post7606894 To answer your questions 1. The school arranges clinical placements for students 2. Am waiting for my license, just finished school last month and passed boards right away before school was officially over. I have received several job offers so far.
  2. Pleased to inform you that my DNP acceptance letter for FNP specialty track arrived today. Am overjoyed.
  3. CCuser, UCLARN, hawks and anyone I forgot to mention, congratulations. It's in deed very good news. Am so happy for you. I remember how on top of the world I was when I got my acceptance letter just before thanksgiving in 2013. Good luck as you obtain the skills to make an impact in our society.
  4. MLLRN and tamtamrn, congratulations to you both. Fantastic news.
  5. I must be such a conservative lol...I personally I wouldn't put a sex store experience on my statement of purpose. However, I do commend you for having the guts to do it, and I hope that experience will stand out for you in a good way. Wishing you all the best.
  6. Laurenurse, big congrats. You must be over the moon. Am so happy for you.
  7. As a parent, I would rather the school errs on the side of caution. Awkward, yes. Life saving, of course. I also don't think this was a nursing issue unless OP was supposed to do a pregnancy test. The counseling department should have been able to handle it with a simple yes or no question and answer. OP, you can use this opportunity to have the protocols reviewed to prevent future misunderstandings. As a soon to be healthcare provider, if I have any reason to think for example that my patient's life is in danger, I am allowed to ask upfront uncomfortable questions such as; are you depressed? have you thought of committing suicide?
  8. The nurses I know don't carry pagers. We page the MDs/NPs instead. She might know how to page but doesn't know how to respond to one. Also based on her experience and the unit she worked, she may not have dealt with PICCS and TLCs. Medsurg is popular with peripheral lines.
  9. Just search USA DNP Program and ask to join.
  10. USA has a facebook page you can all join.
  11. Pleased to inform you that my GPA got verified today - just in time. I only applied to one school coz those applications cost too much money.
  12. Jules, how would you know if a student will make you look bad before you agree to precept them? Do you interview them? I do agree it's a lot of time to teach students but I know in places I have done clinicals, I have been an asset. The doctor just comes in to Okay my plan of care as per my assessment findings. This helps us see more patients in a day than if the doctor had to do everything by himself. My school just sends us to the sites (thank God they find preceptors for us).
  13. Yes I did Lauren. I don't think I have 2weeks. Deadline is this 15th. Friday technically since 15th is a weekend.
  14. I would write a follow up email to the instructor to express how bad I feel about what happened. It works like a charm every time. Always use very polite language in such emails. I am in graduate school and I ran into a personal problem that started as soon as I started school. I have coped with the situation for 4 semesters now, and I have one more left. I have made it a point to explain my situation to my instructors whenever necessary so that they don't think am a slacker. This might not apply to you, but it's good advice to anyone who might find him/herself in my shoes. Those people are human beings just like us.
