US citizen educated in philippines

hi, im american and im about to apply for CES evaluation. i have no plans to take the NLE in the philippines...do i still need to do the

"Request for Validation of Registration/ License Form"to the authority where you were initially registered/licensed and to all authority(ies) where you are currently registered/licensed outside of the U.S. from PRC?

or i just have to give an explanation that i am not legible to take the NLE because i am not filipino anyway...

States are not accepting letters from the nurses, it must come from the PRC directly that you are exempt from writing the exam. If you had held dual citizenship, or the green card, then you would be required to write the NLE as it would not be waived for you. This is what we have been trying to explain to you all along.

Requirements have gotten much tighter all over the US. And when you left to attend school in the Philippines, every single state has added in additional requirements for those that have trained overseas.

The letter that you are getting from the PRC will cover the request for validation of licensure in other areas or states. States as well as CGFNS require documentation from the specific licensing board in the other country that you are not permitted to sit for the exam.

One is not required to attend graduation ceremonies unless your actual school requires it. Some do require attendence, and they can hold up the release of your transcripts because of that. Check directly with them on this.

Hello Katdivi!

I have exactly the same case as yours. Im ineligible to take the NLE because I am not a filipino.

I applied for CES last year. I filled out the online application form, and just stated on the field that "I am ineligible to take the licensure exam because of citizenship requirement". That was all I could squeeze in. The field only allowed few characters.

I got the CES after about a month. I did not have to get anything from PRC. It will be stated on your CES that you do are not licensed in the Philippines. Its up to your Board of Nursing to decide if you are eligible or not. The NM BON did not ask me for any additional papers anymore. I did not even have to visit PRC. Few months later, I took the NCLEX, passed it and got my license.

** EDIT. This is what I went through. Of course it may be different for your BON. My only thing is CGFNS did not ask for that "waiver letter". It just asked the reason, and it did not even state that reason in their report.

thank you for that reply...what board of nursing did you apply to? mine is in massachusetts...

^ New Mexico. Try to ask your board if they actually require a local license, or look it up on their website.

did you take your toefl or ielts?

No, I did not have to because my CES report stated that English was the language of instruction.

thank you so much for your help...the BON of massachusetts only needs the CES report and TOEFL if english was not a medium of instruction...please keep in touch and i am sure ill have to ask more questions in the future...

can you give me more nclex review advice? how did you study for yourS?

No problem! This forum has been of great help to me, and im just continuing the helping!

NCLEX... Saunders is a good book. The Key is to answer as much questions as you can. No need to waste time and money on review centers. You can focus on your weaknesses as well.

Actually there is an NCLEX forum here. Click the students forum, and then there is a separate section for NCLEX discussion.

Ours was almost the same as yours. My wife is Filipina, but came here on a K1 Visa.

We did CES from CGNFS and my wife didn't take her local exams.

Texas BON does not require it, Texas BON called me and asked why she didn't have her local licenses, and I told them because she was a new graduate (March 2008), and didn't sit for it.

It was no problem for Texas.

Just because Texas currently doesn't ask for it doesn't mean they won't in the future. Also when endorsing license in most cases have to meet requirements for foreign trained nurse and the state may insist on local license. Who knows the US immigration may make it a requirement in the future that local license is required and all states follow suite. Not everyone will be coming to the US on a fiancée or marriage visa and will need to meet requirements. I personally see no reason why you shouldn't take the local exam unless you can not, ie not a citizen.

hi my friend has a problem with CES, can anybody enlighten me? she is a US citizen who was educated in the Philippines and she doesn't hold a dual citizenship but she can't get CES as requirement for Illinois. She's doing an endorsement from california to illinois and CES is a requirement. She received a letter from CGFNS that they still need a verification of license from where you were educated.she already called them and was told to get a verification from PRC and she did that but then she received a letter again that they need a verification of license.huh? what exactly do they need from her? thanks hope we can help her.. i already showed her threads from this site and she's going to call the CES people, hope they will understand her situation.
