You're at clinical? Where's your instructor? Where are the other nurses? Why would you post on an Internet forum instead of asking someone you're actually working with?

Hate to be a prick but if you are at clinicals, you should have no business texting. Use your resources. Ask your RN, classmates, or your instructor.

please, swallow your pride and let your instructor know that you need help. If you think you can get by acting like you know what you are doing in front of your instructors, you are sorely mistaken. No one was born knowing how to do this stuff. If something is unclear, take a deep breath think about the problem and use what you already know.
If you still need help then ask.

Put down your blackberry/phone/whatever. Get a nurse to help you. NOW.

All IV pumps are different and the answer varies, and may also depend on med/drip compatibilities. Thus you need to speak to the nurse or your instructor - someone familiar with what drugs you are administering, the policies on that floor, and that facility's pumps.
And if you were texting this question to us rather than asking them, this shows an incredible lack in critical thinking skills and ignorance of appropriate/safe behavior- and would get you kicked out of clinical/suspended just for texting. Get off the phone/computer and asking a good reference

Oh my goodness. This thread is scary.
Why the heck are you texting online during clinicals?? Why on earth would you think it appropriate to ask this of a bunch of strangers online, rather than your supervising RN or clinical instructor?
If I were your clinical instructor, I would fail you.
Careful all. Another poster posted a nearly identical question.
I don't know if we are being trolled, or if somewhere out there is a student trying to bluff thru a procedure!

As usual, posters offered best advice: confirm with your instructor or supervising RN
