Hi all,
I have a question for all you urgent care NP's. What is your typical day look like? what is your starting salary. I want to move from primary care but the offers i have been seeing/offered do not look good at all. They look like this (45/hr, 3 year contract, and 6/7 patient an hour) . Can you tell me if this is typical? I live in Southern California.

That's kinda low. Do you have productivity bonus? I don't have urgent care experience but my friends who work there get paid at least $60 to $80 per hour and have a productivity bonus. They also work 12 hour shifts. However, they have years of experience. Probably give provisions on your contract to re evaluate it after 6 months for renegotiation.

Sounds awful. isn't 45/hr less than RNs make in the cali?
Your gonna get reamed and make them a fortune if you take that job.
Yup, however, you can use them as your stepping stone and get the experience so you will be in a position to make demands at a later time like 6 months so DO NOT SIGN A NO COMPETE AGREEMENT AND DO NOT LOCK YOURSELF INTO A CONTRACT.

In my area (central IL) five years ago I was getting $50/hour. That is way low for a high cost of living area IMHO.

I know the local retail clinics here pay $55/hr plus bonus.

I live in the NW and I make a little less than that as an RN, plus the fact you have to see a patient every 8-10 minutes makes it terrible. Add a contract for 3 years? Lol no way. That's almost a joke.
86K (45 hr avg) is EXTREMELY low for living in Southern Cali, like much lower than a RN salary I have seen travel RN offers for 70+ an hour and 60 an hour for local RNs....

I make significantly more than that as a BSN RN in the hospital setting. Absolutely ridiculous pay if that's their offer.
Thanks everyone! I'm not a new grad NP and this is what they offered. I found it crazy but I wanted to double check. Rejected the offer

Good for you, that offer seems low for when you live and your experience . I am a new grad but based on my interviews and talking to preceptors, urgent care wasn't making more than primary care in my area.

Three year contact?! As a movie actor maybe. Walk. Sounds like a rotten deal. Plus 45/hr is crap.
Seriously, three years...
