There are two dates left for information sessions. Call them first thing Monday and get in one of those. The sooner you get all this information the better, as you have to get appointments setup with your own doctor for some of this stuff.
Good luck. And best wishes for you ACL!
Eeeek! You need someone to "nurse" you back to health. Yea I know pun intended.
Are you allowed to bring someone to the meeting with you? I go to the Dec. 16th meeting and my bf wanted to tag along with me since he just graduated from a np where we are from. I guess he wants to compare lol

There is little he will get from the information session. All that is discussed is as you quoted from my previous post. Stuff such as classes and books will be given to you later; I am going to assume around January or February. Joanne or Natalie will have to tell you whether he can come or not. There is no classroom tour at these sessessions. In all honesty it really would be a waste of his time.... now seeing that you are from Morgantown, lunch downtown with him after the information session could make the trip worth it. Let me know if you need some suggestions for some good grub.
When it comes to comparisons, remember several big things. This program is very heavy in clinicals; a lot more than most programs. Many associate programs, especially community college programs, lack a clinical experiennce that adequately prepares you for the "real" world. The experience you gain in them will be with the best healthcare entitiy in the tristate area, and one of five schools in the United States to earn the designation of NLN Center of Excellence this year. Please don't think I am sour grapes to places outside Pittsburgh .. My mom graduated from WVU, and my first degree was from a school in Ohio. I just did a lot research before considering dropping 10K on a program that I could get otherwise get paid for by unemployment offices if I went the community college route instead.
Let me know if I can help more ... If you like Sushi I strongly suggest you hit Sushi Kim on Smallman Street before heading home. LOL. I know a lot more places if raw fish swimming off your plate is not your thing
well let me just assure you all that the extra trouble and drama it seems to take to get into the school is well worth it. and just because you take the last test dont let that stop you. i took the very last test too and got a spot and i actually graduate next year so hang in there.
I took the very last test, I have been trying to get in touch with Natalie! I really need my scores ASAP! Did you get them over the phone or in the mail? I would like to send out my application no later than Monday! I am so freaking out about this now....

How did you get offered a spot if the test results weren't even in as of Thursday? Just curious. Did they offer it to you over the phone? I know you can't send in your application until after you find out you've passed...

ok hopefully my story will help you feel better. I took the very last test as i stated. I got my results back a few days before christmas... almost a month later! so as soon as i got them i sent in the application that same day, i actually hand delivered it so that she could start working on it. so then i started the wait to see if i would be accepted. I called several times and was told that they were still processing them. now school started march 2nd and by january 23 i still had no clue so i called and was told that they could not give the information over the phone but that i should be watching my mail. so at this point i am pretty sure i got in but by feb 2nd still nothing so i went down there only to find out that i had been accepted but never recieived the packet and missed the deadline for accepting the slot. well i at this point i couldnt prove that i never got it so they were debating about what to do. i get home that afternoon to find a package from the post office filled with shredded papers and an apology letter from the post office. of course it was my acceptance package. i took it to natalie who quickly realized that me missing the deadline wasnt my fault printed another packet for me. then came the mad dash to get all my documentation and clearances before the feb 27th deadline. let me tell you i practically had to bribe people to get it done but i did. so as i am sitting in orientation on that first day 7 people were pulled out because their clearances werent in which made them out of compliance.... and a couple of people in my graduating class now are there because they had their paperwork ready even though they were told they wouldnt be able to start until the fall. so the moral of my story is this, print out everything you will need. get your letters of recommendation ready. not sure if you still have to write the essay but if so.. do it now. have it all ready to go. and the second you mail it start working on your clearances. they dont tell you exactly how to go about this until you get the acceptance package but trust me there are those of us that will walk you through it since they have to be redone once a year we all have the information. i know it is hard to be patient and it may seem as though things are dragging but progress will be made. so good luck and once you get your scores if you need help with anything feel free to ask.

i am sorry maybe you misunderstood. i actually graduate next year so i am not speaking as a current applicant but as someone who was in the same position last year that you are in now. i just wanted to let everyone know that it is still quite possible to get a slot even at the last minute and if you read my previous post... even with a lot of delays and issues. good luck!
Thanks alot! I didn't realize you meant you were already a student! I will definitely being asking you more questions, hopefully! I guess I'm gonna have to hound Natalie. I really didn't wanna be that person, but time is ticking! I have to prepare asap, because I have alot going on in my life with two kids, and I would like to have enough time to complete everything before March. My application is ready to go!

lol trust me natalie is really great and even though she may seem frustrated at times she really doesnt mind being hounded..i did it to her and we still laugh about it everytime she passes me in the halls. and i will tell you this it never hurts to be a thorn in their side.... she told me after it was all said and done that they take it as a sign of how much you want it.

I have a question as far as the clearances. I havn't went to the info meeting yet I'm basing this off a peice of paper I got before I applied for the post admission requirements. It says PA Child Abuse History Clearance but what if we aren't from PA? Am i supposed to have it done both in PA and WV or just strictly one or the other? Haha I'm sure I can find out when my info meeting is but I'm really confused
