UPMC Shadyside 2010 hopefuls

I'm hoping to get into Shadyside in either sprig 2010 or the fall. Anyone else out there already accepted or trying as well?

So I went down there today and spoke to Natalie. She informed me that the scores STILL are not in yet, but also that all of the spots have been filled. And they don't have a waitlist so to speak for March. Like if someone doesn't pass the blood testing or background checks, etc., they don't then make more spots available. I guess it takes so long to go through that process that there wouldn't be time to then allow other applicants go through the same thing in time for classes to begin.:crying2:

SOOOO...She said that as long as I passed the exam, I would be in the first group to be considered for August. That means alot more people are gonna be disappointed once they find out. The worst part is today is my birthday, and I had to get this crappy news...oh well. I guess this gives me more time to get family things together I guess.

Aww I'm so sorry to hear that you still don't have your results and all the spots are filled :( But keep your head up and stay focused maybe things happened this way for a reason you never know. And please stick around these boards I'm sure we can all give you our experiences along the way so you know what to expect.

Thanks alot! I'm not too bummed out about it...and I think things do happen for a reason, so maybe this will be for the best. I definitely will try to stay abreast of what's going on! Keep me posted:cool:

I understand what you mean in terms of frustration...as I was just told the same thing by her. I'm totally bummed out by hearing that too. I was part of the testing date right before yours...so I imagine that there will be about the same or MORE that are going to be put into next session's consideration. Apparently, there were only 62 spots available to add because of the backlog from the prior start date. SO...the moral of the story is: if you know someone who is trying to get into the program tell them to GET INTO THE FIRST TEST DAY for you never know how many people are before you...

Natalie said that she should have them by Friday...I will not bother her anymore until after Christmas, which is when she said she should have more free time and can focus on the next class. I still havnt received mine either! Im thinkin ill just have to get all the information next week. Im surprised we both havnt received them. At least we both had wierd situations so they had to let us know otherwise id be dying!

I was told by Natalie that there were 38 people who received first consideration for this session and there are 100 spots total...

@Sharawnda- my file is complete because I did get my results as of Wednesday last week and I passed 'em. Now I'm just waiting on the packet. AND...we will more than likely walk right by each other since I live right across from Market District...so HOWDY neighbor! You stay in touch!!!

Keep your chin up those of you not in the spring "10" class. I was in the same boat as you for the fall 2009 class and I am now in the spring class. It does bum you out because you want to go so bad, but it just makes it that much better when you get accepted for the the next class! It makes you really appreciate it! Best of luck to you!
