Hi everybody,
I couldn't find a thread for UPenn but is anybody else applying?
I was waitlisted for nurse-midwifery. Did anyone get in or waitlisted for the same track? It seems like a lot of us are on the waitlist. I looked at previous years' threads, and it definitely seems like a few people are taken off the waitlist every year--does anyone have a better handle on what those numbers typically are?
I'm from LA, but also from California! It's going to be such a transition to move to the east coast! I'm excited!!
Do they start a Facebook group for us?
The girl who was a current student at our interview for the FNP track gave us her email. I'm going to see if she can give further insight into housing while we wait for any news from the school in that regard. I'll keep everyone posted.
Congrats guys!I'm going to be applying for 2016, and I was wondering for those who were accepted (or waitlisted, if comfortable), what were your GPA/GRE scores and experiences that helped you get accepted? Thanks!
I think GPAs/GRE scores really vary between everyone. I was accepted for Pediatric Nurse Practitioner: Acute Care Specialty. I had a 156 on Math, 162 on Verbal, and a 5 on Analytical Writing for the GRE. I am still completing my undergraduate education. My GPA is a 3.688 and I will be completing a B.S. in Public Health and a B.A. in Psychology with minors in Nutrition and Biological Sciences. I have over a year of research experience in health psychology and I have been an EMT for 5 years and volunteered on a local rescue squad for 3.5 years. I also am the vice president of a student organization that spreads awareness about eating disorders. I had a couple of internships in the public health field as well. My only work experience was my part-time position as an English tutor.
All that being said, I felt very under-qualified when I met people applying for this program and other comparable programs. Some people were in the peace corp, volunteered internationally, worked in research labs, worked in various other fields, went to or declined acceptances to medical schools, worked in other healthcare positions, etc. So...don't use other people's experiences to justify your own qualifications. All you need to do is OWN what experience/interests you have and make sure your application (especially your essay and personal statements) reflect them.
Someone please tell me the url to the portal for finding your decision? I log on to the url, https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=UPENN-N , and see no status about admission

Phantasy, I also got in for FNP and am from California (bay area). So far I've just been looking at Craigslist apt postings, but I wasn't sure if Penn would send out any more info after March 23.
