I'm repplying for the PMHNP speciality and did not see a thread created so I figured I'd do it again! With the deadline passed, good luck to everyone who applied!
Hi there, congrats to everyone who got in!! I got accepted to the PMHNP specialty and am so pumped. Does anyone know if Penn allows students to defer admission to next year? Lots of personal/financial issues have come up this year and moving across coasts seems fairly challenging right now!
For those that received rejections/waitlist offers: did the wording seem kind of vague? I found the language to be a bit confusing. My letter appeared to be just like any typical rejection letter with:
”I regret to inform you that due to limited positions and the competitiveness of the overall applicant pool, all available seats for the Summer 2021 entering class have been filled at this time.”
...rejected, right? But this was succeeded by:
“If you are interested in being placed on the waitlist, please submit the Waitlist Reply Form...”
So, not rejected??? I’d be curious to know if others who were rejected received the same mixed signals? Or if this is a typical waitlist “offer” for UPenn? The wording felt strange and ambiguous to me. Do they not have a set pool of candidates that they specifically put on their waitlist? Do they offer this only to certain rejected applicants just to see who’s truly still interested?
I honestly don’t know if I was waitlisted or rejected? Or both? Haha
thanks and congrats to those who got in!

YES very confusing. I read those first few lines and I was like "okay rejected ?" but then saw the waitlist form and was like "huhh???"
I did look through last year's AllNurses thread for Penn's ABSN program, and it looks like some people who were rejected were not offered to be put on the waitlist. So I do think that there are some people who got straight up rejected.

Wow, that's so weird and confusing. My letter says "I would like to thank you for submitting your application to the Accelerated BSN/MSN Program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. The Admissions Committee has denied your application at this time. This year’s applicant pool was very competitive, making this decision a difficult one." Then said email to discuss the decision or with questions. That was pretty much the whole letter for me. It sounds like yours might be a waitlist offer! Good luck! ?
