UPENN BSN MSN 2020

With the application deadline in ~30 days I figured, why not make a thread for applicants? I could've sworn I started a thread for this last week but can no longer find it. I'm applying for the PMHNP speciality and although UPenn is a relatively new addition, I have fallen in love with their program. Looking forward to replies from everyone.

I know we all received general emails after our applications were completed stating that if an interview was necessary we would be contacted in the upcoming weeks. Although it does not seem anyone else has heard anything further, myself included. Based on previous years forums it seems the psych specialty requires an in person interview. Unfortunately I think it's just a waiting game at this point, I'm sure it does not help that its the end of the semester and holiday season as well. Hopefully we'll all hear back soon! Hi! Thanks for your encouragement. As you mentioned that its almost the end of the semester, I am wondering if you are a senior ? I am a current senior majoring in Psych and Biology. It is exciting to find someone with similar background and best of luck to you as well!

@ACoolGoose I actually already have my b.s. and m.s. in psych...so I'm going back for round 2 of college lol. I wish I knew about the psych np track a few years ago as I was coming out of undergrad, would've saved myself a lot of time and money lol. I'm now just finishing up my pre-reqs. ?

@lak041 got it. Cause I’m now in the midst of my final weeks, I’m very sensitive to words like “the end of the semester” haha. Have four finals and 2 papers due in next two weeks. Hope they will distract me from waiting for the interview email. ? I already sent two emails asking for a possible notification date but haven’t received any responses yet.

Good luck on everything !@ACoolGoose from what I've learned from trying to communicate with them myself and from previous comments made on the forum, they tend not to respond to emails and calls, even when it's not busy. It's just probably even worse because of everything going on. So unfortunately, the only thing we can do is wait.

@Psychme1929 Thanks so much! You too. I hope they can at least give us an approximate date. Because I’ll be out of the country during winter vacation, I might want to know the interview date before I book tickets...(hopefully if I get one lol)

Admissions Timeline:
October 15, 2019: The application deadline for entry in June 2020
November 2019 - January 2020: Applications are reviewed
January 11, 2020: Financial aid application deadline
Early February 2020: Admissions decisions notification available online

Interviews:
This year Penn Nursing incorporated a video interview as part of the application process, which replaced our in-person interview day. However, there are two programs, the Hillman BSN-PHD and the BSN/MSN (Nurse Midwifery specialty only), where the faculty may contact applicants in mid-December (more information will be sent out later this week to those applicants).
Please note Penn Nursing will not be hosting interviews for the Accelerated Nursing Program with the exception of the two programs listed above.

Financial Aid:
The deadline to submit your financial aid items isJanuary 11, 2020. In order for us to notify you of your financial aid package within one week of admissions, if admitted, we will need all required materials by January 11th. You can apply anytime for financial aid, but there will be a delay in notification of your aid if we receive your information after decisions are released.

Admissions decisions will be available in early February 2020.
