Hi everyone!
I think the previous thread for this cohort got deleted so I'm starting a new one. This thread is for anyone who has applied to UPENN's ABSN program for Summer 2020.
What programs within the ABSN did everyone apply to (Second degree BSN, BSN-MSN, BSN-PHD)? I applied to the Second Degree program.
Good luck & I'm looking forward to hearing from everyone! ?
Hey guys, I applied to the ABSN track. I got accepted yesterday. I saw someone ask about posting stats so I'll post mines.
I'm currently finishing undergrad and I graduate in May. I'm only taking my practicum(internship) and Micro Class
Overall GPA: 3.80
Prereq GPA: 3.74 (Still completing my Micro class)
Experience: Intern at PENN hospitals for two years and one year as a Medical Scribe
I also got accepted to Jefferson but I did not pay my deposit fee for enrollment as yet.
Congrats to everyone who got accepted! for those who did not, your journey does not end here, it's only the beginning, don't be defeated.
SB: Roxborough Memorial Hospital school of nursing has a 16 month RN program and also they have a connection with PSU where you can get in and complete your BSN within 6 months.
CCP also has a 12-month accelerated ADN and afterwards you can go on to get your BSN within 6-12 months. These are just some more affordable alternatives, if anyone is interested.

Also if you were planning to reapply to Penn next cycle, I'm more than happy to help you put your application together. You have a very unique and interesting background. They need people like you but its all about how you market yourself unfortunately. Sending lot of love your way. Best of luck.
You are awesome @El Primus! So many kind, generous people entering the field of nursing. How lucky are future patients ?
I've applied to one other program, but that was a stretch. My plan is to continue to make myself a more competitive candidate by raising my GPA and gaining more clinical experience.
All the luck greatly appreciated.
Lavieenrose, it appears we had the same type of undergraduate GPA and are both career changers. I unfortunately ended up w/ a 2.61 undergrad GPA. But, I did go back to school and got a masters degree in mental health and a GPA of 3.4. My prereqs are a GPA of 3.447. I have 1.5 years worth of volunteer experience in the hospital with direct pt care. And lots of interesting life experiences. I am afraid my past will come back to bite me in the butt. Praying...?

It also seems like we applied to similar schools ? See you back on the JHU thread.
Has anyone on the waitlist heard back? They said we would get a decision on April 15th, but I still haven't received anything and my application is still posted (which they said would be taken down if not accepted). I figured COVID-19 is probably delaying things, but I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

@Amanda Lee Hauns reach out to Filomena. You can get in BSN and not MSN.
