School Nursing: Scope and Standards
Author: American Nurses Association (ANA) & National Association of School Nurses (NASN)
Description:
Once again, building on decades of collaboration, the National Association of School Nurses and the American Nurses Association have published the premier one-volume guide to contemporary school nursing. The Standards of School Nursing Practice and their accompanying competencies describe and measure the expected level of school nursing practice and professional performance. Based on ANA’s Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice (2015) for all registered nurses, these standards are authoritative statements of the duties that school nurses should competently perform. Composed of two sets—the Standards of Practice and the Standards of Professional Performance—these standards delineate how outcomes for school nurse activities can be measured.

Hi all,
I was hoping you had some suggestions for an updated resource guide for a brand spanking new school nurse who needs a lot of brushing up on assessment skills, disease education, nursing indications and treatments for common situations faced in the school nurse environment (asthma, diabetes, anaphalaxis, seizures). I did find the Manual of School Health handbook for school nurses but it is 10 years old. Does anyone else have any go to resources or suggestions? Thanks!
