UofA MEPN 2021

Published

Hi there. I am applying for the UofA MEPN 2021 program this Fall, and thought I'd open up this thread for others also applying at this time.

A little about me - I was originally going to apply for the 2020 program, but delayed it a year due to the birth of my youngest in late 2019. I have quite a bit of healthcare experience before the birth of my children, as well as volunteer experience in other areas. I haven't taken the HESI yet, but my stats are 3.5 (last 60), and 3.8 (prerequisites). I have a Bachelors degree in Biology, and am *really* hopeful to make it into this MEPN program. My goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner ? One of my aspirations is to serve impoverished communities in third world countries.

Would love to hear from others, and open up dialogue regarding questions and general advice.

Best of luck to all the 2021 candidates!

I’m looking for a place to stay in PHX/Gilbert 2-3 times a week possibly, if needed if it’s too dangerous for me to drive back to Tucson after a long day.  If anyone would be open to that or couch surfing ? ?‍♀️  Like an air bnb

Hey, I’ll have a two bedroom apartment downtown Phoenix near campus if you (or anyone else) needs a place to crash sometimes. Feel free to find me on facebook, Olivia Straub ☺️

So sweet!

Also- do you recommend any housing in that area? I’ve just started looking and not tooo familiar with the area.

Hello,

I was waitlisted for the MEPN program but was offered a seat in the BSN IH. They have let me know that if I accept the BSN IH position I will be taken off the waitlist for the MEPN program. I just wanted to let people know who might be in the same position. I’m still unsure what to do at this point.

Dang I didn’t know that. It makes sense I guess but I wish they would have said something. I accepted my position for BSN-IH because I just want to start school, but I still wish they’d said something.

I was waitlisted last year. Definitely chat with an advisor because they were helpful with me - but since the MEPN people all had to give their yes/no for attending by last week, they would be reaching out to alternates this week, and they only give alternates a few days to decide to accept or not. So the chances of getting off the waitlist are getting smaller at this point. If you really want MEPN, you might need to reapply next year, but if you want to get into the field asap, that's awesome that you were offered the BSN IH spot.

Hi Emily! I just wanted to let you know that I'm in the same spot. I met with an advisor and she was able to give me a general idea of where I was in on the alternate list as well as how I could improve my application if I decided to reapply to MEPN next year. The advisor let me know that they had already started contacting alternates so I agree with Teensie that the chance of getting off the alternate list unfortunately is getting smaller, but if you really want MEPN you could be notified as late as just before classes start.

I accepted BSN-IH (forfeited my MEPN alternate spot.)  didn’t want to risk not starting a nursing program this Summer.  Both programs are about the same length and both lead to NCLEX for RN.

That’s kind of where I was at. I’d rather just get into the field ASAP rather than worry about MEPN vs BSN. I accepted my BSB-IH spot and forfeited my MEPN spot. But I’m just as excited either way!

that is so exciting for you. I honestly didn't know about the BSN-IH and it sounds super great.

I just accepted my spot too! I think it will be a great program. I would love some study buddies too!

I still haven’t received my acceptance to the Graduate College. Is anyone else still waiting?
